Sure. And they’ll always find extreme examples to throw at you. But now they want to ban Jodi Picoult. And Toni Morrison:

https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/3894275-bestselling-writer-jodi-picoult-denounces-florida-book-ban/amp/

So I say fuk em. They ARE right wing lunatics.

What books by Picoult were removed? Many of her books include graphic sex depictions. I’m not aware of any history books where that would be necessary to learn the lesson. Perhaps you can tell us the actual books? I’ll take it from there.

I’m awful curious about what book actually says this. Care to offer an example?

I just provided 2 links.  Some Picoult titles were in the first link.

Rufo is a religious zealot. He should not be deciding what others are allowed to read. He doesn’t even think evolution is real. His brain is stuck in medieval times, and I’m not talking about the restaurant.

Didn’t see it. You can’t just tell me the names of the books? Or what post  you put it in?

So it doesn’t say those things in the book. Lol.

I don’t see what is wrong with that book. I can see how racists like Rufo wouldn’t like it though. How dare anybody speak the truth…

So you believe that white identity is inherently racist? And young kids need to have that pointed out?

I think what we need is a Geek Club book club where we actually read the books being removed from the schools in full.  😆

So you or Tim can’t tell me.  But you object to it being removed.  Good job, good effort.

I can tell you, I am just tired of doing research for you.

I have read many of the titles I've seen listed, but of course not all.  There are some I agree with removing (Gender Queer), and some I think are fine for a HS (Beloved).  Most of the examples i see fall into that 2nd category.

I haven't read Picoult books, so I don't have an opinion on those and can't tell you if I object to them being removed.  I doubt you have read them either.  I was just providing a link to the titles being removed to Tim and anybody else interested.  We'll, ones that aren't too lazy to make a couple mouse clicks, anyway.

I've seen Kendi's books on lists, and kids versions of those.   I've seen stuff like Stamped, Ghost boys, Beloved, things like that.

But this goes back to my posts about the purposeful goal of getting all race stuff under CRT.  Because now the shorthand is all these books point to "teaching" CRT = teaching us to hate whitey = should be removed from the shelves.

The net keeps getting bigger and bigger, but when you scan the lists of challenged books, it damn near all circles around LGBTQ and race topics.

HERE is an example of one of the county's lists.    HERE is a list of 176 that were taken off the shelves for review and are being looked at.

I’ve read one of Kendi’s books. He’s a fine provocative writer whom I generally disagree with (at least, in terms of his proposed solutions.) But again I have to challenge the claim that he or anyone else has instructed young African Americans to “hate whitey.” That’s the lazy conclusion of somebody who has never read him.

The Storyteller. Her novel about the Holocaust.

Not sure why I needed to tell you this. You could have just looked it up.

Haven’t read it. I’ll make sure I do. I strongly doubt it says what you’re repeating here.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it says “Whiteness is a bad deal, It always was” and “whiteness gets to mess endlessly with the lives of people of color”. And “a whiteness contract with the devil”. Don’t you leftists tools get tired of being wrong all the time?

No crap he has an agenda everyone has an agenda. I’m glad he’s doing it and celebrate him. You can go back to defending your leftist boyfriend “gc centrist”.

I am going to now attack the message.

Not My Idea: A Book About Whiteness is a children’s book about the white supremacist movement. I just looked it up on Amazon and read a few pages in the “Look Inside” option. That was enough to tell me that it doesn’t teach anyone to “hate whitey”, and also that it’s not even directed at African-American children, but all children. Which makes both of your assertions false.

It seems to be an intelligent work about an important topic that is perfectly suitable for young children IMO (though kindergarten might be too young- depends upon the kid.)

I don’t see any of those quotes in the part I read.  I’m betting they don’t exist.

“Florida is banning books!”

”Those books aren’t available to children”

”I’m glad those books are available to children they teach a valuable lesson”

Do I have that right sh!tlibs?

Taken out of context? What part of white people signed a contract with the devil is taken out of context?

Racism in this country has been practiced almost exclusively by white people against minorities. Racist attitudes by minorities against white people or other non-whites is irrelevant because minorities have never been a significant part of the power structure.

So she is absolutely correct: racism is a white people’s problem, created and perpetuated by whites, and we are all caught up in it.

Here’s the full context read by a sh!tlib bowtied bumkisser. I see that I was correct that the narrative would change from it’s not happening to I’m glad it’s happening.

I am not sure where you are getting this.

Book bans = dumb

Fighting against book bans = good.

I don't care which side of the aisle is doing which in order to tell you I am against #1, but it seems currently the right is hellbent on doing #1.

Re-editing old books = very dumb and very bad.

What books have been banned from the public?

Hey @Dizkneelande in retrospect I don’t feel I’m being fair to you because I haven’t read the full book. I don’t find your arguments compelling but maybe they are; maybe it teaches something awful and entirely inappropriate. I note that you haven’t read it either.

So I’ll make you an offer: I will shell out the money and read this book in its entirety (it shouldn’t take too much time) and then offer you an honest opinion IF you are willing to do the same. Maybe one or both of us will change our minds. Up to you.

Great, another one.

Banned/removed from schools and/or libraries.   I have never claimed the book is removed from existence or anything.

Ahhh yes...and here it is.  What Tim has been dancing around, but he’s finally said it.  Black racism doesn’t count.  Right out of Kendis mouth.

What’s wrong with telling the truth? We should stop because it hurts your feelings? Maybe you need a safe space.

Probably don't need to buy it.  You probably can find it online or through a library - since you live in Cali. ;)

I see you've jumped straight from phase 1 (it isn't happening) to phase 3 (it's good that it happens).  Usually you Leftists spend a little time first in phase 2 (it happens but it's rare). :dunno:
