Brakes have not been ruled out as contributing to the crash.

Did you quote the wrong post?

He's got mental issues for sure.

Are we sure the better brakes couldn’t have still helped it stop though?

For fok sakes peanut brain #2.  You have to know there was a problem to apply the breaks and no they wouldn't have helped, 20 miles is plenty to slow it down just by letting off the fuel and letting friction and gravity do the work without breaks.

Only in the sense that I was not going to quote someone who called me 'peanut brain"

No I meant you should have quoted my post asking if the brakes could have helped, and not the one where I pointed out that Obama’s regulation would not have applied to this material.

What logic?  That better breaks don't help stop a train better?

Better axle breaks would make things worse.

Oh, I think grammar police guy meant "brakes". The issue wasn't dependent on the brakes, can't you read?

They are shipping the waste down here to Houston for injection.

With how many wells are in the marcellus shale they could probably inject it up there, although there are more companies specializing in waste injection in Texas.

It can’t be the brakes because that might mean Trump did something wrong. And we can’t have that. So the brakes are out.

Dude, no it wouldn’t have

This is all Biden's fault for hiring the gay guy, Pete whatever his name is.

He knows how to S a D, he knows absolutely nothing about transportation or infrastructure. He's there for one reason and one reason only, HE'S GAY!

Biden hired him pandering to the Gays. This is what happens when you elect WOKENESS.

Before the final report came out, we had NTSB officials saying that better brakes would have helped stop the train earlier and possibly avoided the derailment.

Now that we have the official report, it looks as though the brakes weren't an issue because by the time they were alerted of the failure, it was already too late

So yes, brakes stop trains and avoid derailments, but in this particular case there were multiple failures, can't point to just one.

Honestly, I don't think Biden, Pete or Trump are to blame for this.  This is on the rail road company for terrible business practices.  I hope they are sued for a ton of money.

Yes it’s been established that the brakes were not the “issue,” I think the unanswered question is could better brakes have helped stop it once they realized there was an issue.  Seems plausible it may not have been “too late” if it was equipped with brakes that had a shorter stopping distance.

It's not rocket science A-Hole. The infrastructure is ancient and the system is broke. Stop giving money to pay Ukrainian pensions and focus on this Country. Old Man Joe needs get his priorities straight.

Are you suggesting this is the government’s responsibility and not the railroad companies?

I agree with most of this. Rail company needs to pay out a large settlement.

I think it's also worth reviewing the rail union demands for more sick time and improved working conditions. Congress forced them to end their strike and a less engaged workforce isn't good for safety.

Huh?

I think the govt builds the tracks and stuff and the train companies build/buy their trains. Isn’t the rails like roads?

The rails donate lots of money. They want and get results.  The results they want.

He is saying the lobbyists have bought said government, so they are largely working for the rail industry.

The railroads are owned and operated by the railways, not the govt.
