Jimmy G to Raiders

Dumb signing. The Raiders are absolutely not a league average game manager away from anything.

crazy a mediocre QB can get a 72 million dollar contract

It is amazing what teams keep paying for QBs that do not have a winning history in the playoffs.  I mean if you think you are a QB away from a championship and this guy will get you over the top then fine but the salaries keep skyrocketing for guys that do not get the job done in the playoffs.

Jimmy Garoppolo had a passer rating of 74.1 with 962 yards, 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in 7 games in the playoffs in his career.

If my friend pays $40,000 for a 2010 Taurus and I get a 2012 Taurus for only $35000 it does not mean that I got a deal.

Edit.. and getting a 74 passer rating with SF or a 65 passer rating with Oakland does not tell me there is a lot of difference.

Nice analogy. But Jimmy can't stay on the field.

That oline and lack of defense are going to get him hurt again

My 2012 Taurus could not stay out of the shop either.  I cut it after 2 seasons.

He will get to recuperate in a nicer house though.

Raiders need to sign a good back up Qb, Jimmy G has played  full season of games once.

Now he does get a boost in having Adams at Wr.

Yea but he had Deebo and Kittle to throw too and a good running game to lean on. I say his stock has to go down.

Jimmy G stock on ff has never been very high for me, he can’t stay healthy.

But I think he’s going to be playing with the best wr he’s ever had with Adams, the best rb he’s ever had with Jacobs, he does lose at te.

Biggest challenge for Jimmy G is going to be staying healthy, and the Niners had one of the best defense in the game, not so much with the Raiders.

If the Raiders were a smart organization, which they aren’t, they’d draft a QB Round 1 despite signing Jimmy. Instead they’ll throw a lot of $ around on overpriced FAs and to try to sneak into a wild card spot and miss the postseason anyway.

He's like 40-17 as a starter. He's better than other QBs getting way more. But man, he does get injured a lot.

Yup.  He is well worth that money compared to others. Is he as talented as Carr? No. And sure, he has played for two really good organizations.... but he's a proven winner. Just has to stay healthy... and really, that red flag is baked into the contract.

Deebo, Kittle and a good running system

vs

Adams, Waller and Josh Jacobs?

Gotta give the point to Vegas even though I would probably side with SF just because of the organization/coaching.  Vegas needs to focus first and foremost on the offensive line, which was actually pretty solid in 2022, and bring in a capable backup. maybe they can look at a rookie on day 2. I would say to go after Levis but I think they need to be using that pick on the offensive line or to bolster the defense.

Agreed.  Not so sure that could have in this draft.

i think offensively, they are fine: adams, renfroe, waller, jacobs, cole, hollins.  that defense and division means he will likely be throwing more than he did in SF.  current oline would have me worried

Exactly. Seems like a great pick-up to me. What better options were out there?

I wanted Jimmy G to take over for Tua.  Alas it was not to be.

Nothing against the guy, I hope he's successful, but he compiled that 40-17 record playing for 2 HQ teams.

You shouldn’t swear, and don’t use God’s name in vain.

Thanks.

I didn't and I didn't !  Like in Court, 'do you swear to tell the truth ..' ... and thanking God is not in vain.

You should not bare false witness.

Waller to the giants

It’s ok. But I like Bellinger. He flashed last year before nearly losing his eye.

Waller wasn’t an upgrade at TE over Kittle for Jimmy G, but it doesn’t help Jimmy G.

It’s a good move for the Gmen imo, Waller will be out half the season, but they still have Bellinger.

I don’t put any trust in man, I put by trust in the Lord.  I’m a Christian, not a fool following foolish man. How about you? In whom do you put your trust?

Psalm 118:8.

Amen.
