California Is A SHIZZHOLE

It was added to our state constitution in 2022; really hard to remove it now even if you started voting red.

Just saying.

California lives up to the promise of America? Seriously? Less than 30% can afford to buy a home here. Infrastructure is falling apart (see the Parajo levee that has broken multiple times since it was built, yet Newsome talks about climate change instead of fixing it), wildfires, cities in which people can cr@p and do drugs in the middle of the street...I could go on.

Is this what you want America to look like?

I would saw Iowa lives up the to America's promise than California.  It's an affordable place to live with plenty of job opportunities.  All you have to do is be willing to put the work in and you can have a nice quiet life.  The people are friendly and accepting as well.

WTF? I go to downtown Los Angeles all the time. I was there yesterday.

When accused of blowing carbon all over people of color you responded, "I don't live or work in the City of Angels".

Some would call you King of Half-Truths, I call you a Liar.

I spend a lot of time in all of it. I manage property in Bakersfield, spend a ton of time in Long Beach (parts of which are heavily black) Los Angeles, the Valley. I see it all.

Yet you don't work in the city of angles.  Interesting.

Ah, we are too big and wealthy to fail?

You're viewing it from being rich in CA, which is soooo different than the people you probably rent to who can barely afford it when rent is increased. And before you claim to "not be rich" you're in property management.

You mean YOU will figure it out, the rest of the folks will just "deal" or keep getting social services or add to the homeless population.

I deal with commercial property and, though I work for others as well as my family, I try to keep rents below market. We were very generous giving free rent during Covid; many of our neighboring landlords were not; I’ve never regretted that. I’m pretty well off and I’m not ashamed of that either. I’m lucky to have been born into a wealthy family but I’ve worked hard as well.

I’m not going to deny any of the issues you raised in your previous post. I wish we could solve all of them. The homelessless, the crime, the poverty has all gotten a lot worse. As I wrote at least some of this is due to Democratic policies and I’m definitely open to new solutions. But I don’t think any of it defines our state.

I don’t live or work there. But I spend a lot of time there. You know why? Because I enjoy being there. I love downtown, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Miracle Mile, Westwood, Santa Monica, Venice, Marina Del Rey, the USC/Exposition Park area, LACMA, even parts of east Los Angeles.

So what did you mean in the pollution thread when you said you don't live or work down there.   It's a distinction without a difference if you drive there all the time.  You wana play dumb or be the liar?

Dude. Know what Iowa has that CA doesn't? Cheap housing. That's it. And that's only because nobody wants to live there unless they're from there. I get it, you love it, and that's fine. But objectively, CA has more to offer than any other state, especially geographically.

Mea culpa @Hawkeye21. I thought about it, and if the choices were to live in Des Moines or one of the inland cities like Bakersfield, San Bernardino, Modesto, or the like, then I'd choose Des Moines. Those towns suck something fierce.

A failing power grid, the nations highest pollution, top 5 dangerous violent states, lunatic enforced policies, snowflake energy policies, free needles, no plastic straws, unaffordable housing, people pooping in the streets, The Kardashians, San Francisco, LA and an immigration crisis.

Where do I sign up???

All right, I can argue some of this but you’ve got me with the Kardashians. Maybe we are a rotten state after all.

If we have the breakup everybody keeps talking about, the Kardashians will have to be banished to a red state….

To me California is a once beautiful state now ravaged by pollution, over population and extremely poor urban planning.  Beaches close for pollution, cities are homeless encampments and crime havens, the hills are littered with homes denuding the hillsides and displacing wildlife.  The unsustainable agriculture is rendering the soil toxic, and something about the smog seems to destroy judgment, turning decent folk liberal.

Won’t happen in 2024. Biden will be in the White House another 4 years. We’ll have to see after that.

Sadly you are probably right.  Are you happy that Biden will continue to keep the drugs from Mexico flowing so the people in the videos can continue to enjoy their way of life?   That way these cities will continue their decline and the Dems can hold onto power longer.  Is that liberal utopia the goal?

No, no. You stay in South Carolina. It suits you. Unless Oklahoma or Texas are appealing to you, of course. I'm sure you'd be welcomed in those urbane cradles of evolved civilization.

I live on Hilton Head Island. I'll let you know when I see my first homeless person, drug addict, riot, car jacking or Tranny molester.

Wait for it.

Surely you're not saying we have the resources
To save the poor from their lot?
There will be poor always, pathetically struggling
Look at the good things we've got!
Think while you still have me
Move while you still see me
You'll be lost, you'll be so, so sorry when I'm gone

Hopefully Californians continue to enjoy living there and don't want to move out.

So you're a rich white dude living in an entitled enclave of conservatives? I can definitely see why you would feel so aggrieved, then.🙄

Would you prefer that I live in a 1 bedroom Chicago bungalow so that my kids can get shot while walking to school?? Would that be more respectable?

I guess you hate your kids more than I do.

To be fair Skid Row has been a cesspool since I was a kid.  The problem is there are 100's of other locations in CA that NOW look like Skid Row did in the 70's.

I have no preference on where you live. I see a lot of people in situations similar to yours make a lot of comments on what those demonic Dems have done to our cities. How does a well-off white guy living on Hilton Head know so much about how horrible California is? You know what your right-wing media of choice tells you, which you take as truth, while proselytizing about how brainwashed liberals are, living in their little liberal bubbles. I would guess HH is a pretty nice little bubble for the moneyed white conservative. Am I wrong?

I've been to California at least 20 times on business. Each time it's gotten worse, especially SF, it's a human cesspool.
