Were i trump's legal team I would consider trying this most recent matter to the court rather than to a jury.  Juries in D.C. are composed of democrats who are emotional about this issue and who have an orthodoxy of thought which would not be amenable to Trunp's defense.  The Court probably a bit less so, though who knows.  The thing is, an appeals court is, in my mind, a bit more likely to overturn a judge than a jury.

 

The indictment does not impress me, at first blush.  I will wait to hear the case. Proving, or trying to prove, what was in the mind of a person like Trump will be interesting.  Is it unlawful be be delusional, to hiold out hope, to be suspicious of unusual circumstances or trends in voting?  I guess we shall see.

He just never acted. The request was denied, however. Apparently, since the NG did such a bang-up job (literally) in quelling the Floyd protests in the summer of 2020, officials were worried about "optics." There is truth in this.  I've long said that there was no intent to actually convict Trump prior to the election, but rather to space out the charges to keep him negatively in the news.  It is a siege, not a blitzkrieg, the purpose of which is to generate and maintain Trump fatigue for the independent voters through the election.  And I suspect it is working.  

After they put their corpse back into office, I'm not really sure what the DNC's plan is.  They'll probably actually push to convict him, to throw some red meat to their TDS sycophants.

First off I don’t think there’s any plan at all. Each of these cases is moving along at its own speed. The delay, IMO, was mostly due to Garland hesitating before appointing the independent prosecutor; he knew that any action against Trump would be viewed as highly political. But in the end the bulk of evidence forced his hand. 
 

Second I think this latest indictment will result in a trial prior to the election.

And I disagree that any of this would negatively effect Trump's chances in the first place, so if it was the plan it's a dumb one.   This "witch hunt" sh1t is gold for his base - they eat it up, and it's a reason they rally behind him.   It's just more proof of the weaponization of the DOJ to them.
