I think some of us here predicted this some time ago...

So now there is some effort to leverage the farcical prosecutions to deny the American people the opportunity to pick their leader.  I infer, that when this weaponization is turned back on to THEM.....Democrats will be horrified of course....

The prosecutions are hardly farcical.

But that being said I agree with the WSJ editorial. Even if a good legal argument could be made that the 14th Amendment bars Trump from running for office (and I would note that there are conservative members of the Federalist Society making this argument), it would do tremendous damage to our political system not to allow the voters to decide.

Trump: ‘I look forward’ to testifying in criminal cases

Donald Trump said Wednesday that if any of the four criminal probes into the former president call him to testify, he would do it.

“Oh, yes, absolutely. That, I would do. ... I look forward to testifying. At trial, I’ll testify,” Trump told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.

His own lawyers would petition to treat him hostilely.

Contempt of Congress trial of former Trump advisor Peter Navarro Begins today…

Glad to see this guy squirming…

Navarro indicted on contempt charges for defying 1/6 panel

The indictment comes days after Navarro revealed he had been subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury as part of the Justice Department’s probe into Jan. 6.

Navarro, 72, was charged with one contempt count for failing to appear for a deposition before the House committee and a second charge for failing to produce documents the committee requested.

-

Pretty simple verdict form and a rather straightforward note from the jury…

Correct. So we should be getting to the bottom of the fraudulent votes and prosecuting those involved, right?

Absolutely.   If you find any evidence of fraudulent voting, prosecute away.   And while we wait for that, let's prosecute the biggest fraud of all, Trump.

The average black  voter doesn’t care about this. Think they’re phased by a little dust up between white people?

Trump's false claims about Georgia's 2020 election long debunked

"We counted the ballots three times. He lost this state," one official said.

On Thursday night on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump made more unsubstantiated claims about he called  "rigged" and "stolen" election in Georgia.

The false claims come two-and-a-half years after the election, which officials repeatedly determined was not fraudulent after an audit, multiple recounts and at least a half dozen failed legal challenges.

Trump lost…

Nice priorities.  Biden and his wife colluded with the teachers unions to keep public schools closed. Children suffered. I’ll try and keep that in mind when confronted with these indictments.

Good thing the top cop in NY is spending her time on this. She must not have other issues to deal with while NYC crumbles.

I'm sure I've said it before, but to say "we re-counted so there wasn't fraud!" is an incredibly simplistic position.  In the 2020s, I'm confident in our ability to count ballots (with minimal error).

The question is more "garbage in, garbage out," or, were the ballots themselves valid?  How much harvesting went on, and is that illegal?  These are the more relevant questions IMO.

Any dip shirt who thinks Trump was indicted by a grand jury for “questioning the election “ seriously, needs to read the indictment and understand the charges. Words matter. Courts matter.

Lawfare contributor and Georgia resident Anna Bower posts a short thread with a bunch of legal docs

In a new brief, Fulton County DA Fani Willis argues that Mark Meadows is not permitted to remove his case to federal court because the removal statute only applies to *current* federal officials. "Former federal officers are not authorized to remove," she writes.

The first domino falls…

Fulton County Defendant Scott Hall is currently taking a plea in the Georgia RICO election case.

Watch as Trumps co-defendant enters GUILTY plea.

Hall is the Atlanta-area bail bondsman who was accused of conspiring to hack election data in Coffee County in violation of Georgia RICO and conspiracy to commit election fraud.

First offender deal:

5 years probation.

$5,000 fine.

A letter of apology to the people of Georgia.

200 hours community service.

A bar on election administration work.

Hall must testify honestly in all further proceedings.

Interesting. Almost certainly won’t have any incriminating testimony directly involving Trump, but now that Sidney Powell loon is in trouble and it goes up from there

Ok so, Joe Biden trounced Trump in 2020. Trump has been indicted four times and you can’t go a day without hearing about his leading an insurrection.  Why is this race close? How did Biden lose all of that support? What’s his path to getting it back?

The inflation we saw in '21 and '22 which was caused by Trump is being blamed on Biden.  History will note otherwise but the the US isn't made up of very smart people so they can't seem to understand that inflation is something that takes years to work its way through and impact the economy.  They also don't understand that the US economy since 2020 has crushed the rest of the world by every metric.

And Biden looks and acts old.  If he's the dem nominee Trump could very well win.  As sick as that is to even contemplate.
