This is a feature film, this isn't public policy, this isn't about how to best use tax dollars, this isn't going to impact the national economy, the existence of this film isn't a current immediate threat to national security. 

Lots of people are tired of being told how to think in this country. Now you could flip that coin to the other side on all kinds of other topics and you might have some really strong points to make AGAINST the Conservative base. I won't deny that as well.

Do you know that Alex Haley presented his novel and mega-successful mini-serues Roots as based on his true ancestry, but in reality he plagiarized large portions of the book and completely made-up the characters of the book?  But Haley raise awareness of the evils of slavery while being totally dishonest.   The Sound of Freedom is actually based on a true story and everyone knows it was dramatized and not a documentary.  The real offense of The Sound of Freedom is that exposes Minor-Attracted People as Predators and not some innocent sounding sexual identity which we should celebrate.

I think it was dumb of the liberals to protest this movie, however I also think that people are overrating the impact that bringing awareness of child trafficking actually achieves.

 

If we were talking real policy to stop child trafficking I am not sure what the first step would be although it seems world governments barely care either. We allow slavery to be committed all over the world.

Great points, certainly worthy of consideration. I wonder, though, if it actually does do more harm than good. I don't think, maybe I'm wrong, that people are going to form vigilante gangs and go after trafficking rings just because of this movie (and hell, if they do would that be a bad thing?). I think raising the awareness, even if sensationalized, is a good thing. Maybe a little like Superman fighting Nazis and the like. I'd rather know about the problem and see a fictionalized story about how someone took matters into his own hands rather than be kept in the dark. It's a net positive.

He did disagree in discussion on the privious page.  He did say it was stupid, but, included reasons why. So did I.

But the fact remains, they weren't "good points".  He cited an opinion piece that used statistics that aren't relevant to the movie to discredit it. The article was disingenuous and so was Gutter for using it, unless you know, he was just being stupid.
