As I wrote in the other thread, what I connect this guy to is conservative anti LGBT rhetoric. On other issues he might be liberal or conservative; it doesn’t matter. On this issue he’s bought into the hate, and the hate on this issue has come from conservatives. 

And not just American conservatives. Islamic conservatives. Israeli conservatives. Russian conservatives. Religious conservatives all over the world. These conservatives may disagree on every other issue but on this issue they’re remarkably consistent. And this is the result.

We absolutely should discuss mental health and how to help people inclined to violence and prevent the violence. But that doesn’t mean we can’t also look at the idea that political rhetoric is fueling some of that violence. And to point that out is not exploitation.

People across the spectrum agree with me.  Sometimes you and I will agree.  That is not some statement on me. This pretense that because you hold a position that some element of the population holds it designates you needs to stop.

Its a tactic. You find someone, or some group, that also shares that position and then correlate the individual to that group.....this is done to denigrate them rather than face up to discussion....its lazy.....

There was a time when schools taught to NOT do this, taught kids how to debate and talk to each other....apparently that is gone.
