BLACK ROCK CITY, Nevada − Authorities on Sunday were investigating a death at the sprawling, mud-caked Burning Man festival while more than 70,000 attendees were told to shelter in place and conserve food, fuel and water amid heavy rains that made driving out of the swampy desert venue almost impossible.

Yeah I was reading about this yesterday. Sounds pretty sh1tty. Could really turn bad but I guess so far it hasn’t. They did say one person died but no details on how and it really could’ve been anything

One year, didn't a few people light the big burning man on fire the first night as a prank and it ruined the whole festival for everyone that was tweaking?

couldn't have happened to a better and more pretentious, spoiled and entitled group of people.

You’re probably thinking of Coachella or something. This is mostly hippies and libertarians in old RVs and sh1t.

Which means you’re both an assh0le and stupid

So you are a hippie liberatarian?  Yeah, who cares if you are gone? Seriously. Who cares?

And here I didn't think we had anything in common!  TBH, though, you are much, much better at being a stupid assh0le.

This group reminds me of the people in the movie Independence Day partying on the rooftop as the alien mothership beams them with a laser vaporizing them.

On Sunday, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she thinks the thousands of festivalgoers stuck in the muddy desert terrain at Burning Man are likely being 'brainwashed' that their current predicament is the result of climate change.

The annual weeklong Burning Man festival, which is held in Nevada's Black Rock Desert, faced a series of challenges this year. The area was hit with torrential rain and flooding, leaving it incredibly muddy and preventing nearly every vehicle from entering or leaving. As of Monday morning, there were roughly 72,000 people still stranded at the festival despite it being scheduled to formally end the same day, according to CNN.

Appearing on Infowars alongside Alex Jones on Sunday, Greene said she believes the festivalgoers still at the Black Rock Desert are "probably being brainwashed that climate change is the cause of all of it, is the root of all evil, and is going to destroy the Earth."

The congresswoman from Georgia also implied the flooding may have been an act of God against concertgoers.

"God has a way of making sure everyone knows who God is, I'll say that about that," she told Jones.

Greene isn't the only member of Congress who's been outspoken recently against Burning Man. GOP Sen. Mike Lee of Utah took to Twitter on Monday to comment on an online article detailing "orgasm hypnosis" and more at the event.

"God's judgement is real," he wrote online before then openly wondering if any festivalgoers had been influenced into converting to Christianity due to this year's tumultuous Burning Man.

We flew back from NY last week and Nick Gillespie from Reason.com was on our flight, with a group of 4 other people (including two women, one very hot).  Hot chick in particular had a big hiking backpack; it seemed too large for a carry-on, and I don't think reason.com is popular enough to rate special privileges.  :D

Anyway, learned today that they were going to Burning Man.

My SIL goes. It's not just Reno area people but we see them driving up the freeways with their shiiitshow RVs and all kinds of stuff.

Just seems like a really dusty, dirty rave with drugs and naked people everywhere. Apparently she has the BEST time, meets a lot of people etc. My brother doesn't go with her.

Anyways yeah, tons of mud and just yuck. When the people were finally cleared to leave, it took some folks 4 or 5 HOURS to move 6 miles to the paved road that leads out.

Dude who died had a heart attack or something like that, not sure if it was exacerbated by drug use.

the people I know personally who go do not take their children. I am under the impression that there's a lot of nakedness, drugs, and drinking. Pretty foolish and negligent to bring young kids.

No offense so please don't take it this way, but your sister in law is totally getting railed at that place and cheating on your brother.  No self-respecting man would tolerate his significant other going to something like this.  And if the roles were reversed I would say the same thing.

Unless your brother is okay with that, but then that's a whole other issue.

Not offended. It's really not my business.

I've mentioned to him before that it's a big drunk naked fest, and I too can't believe that she goes.

Maybe in the long run he doesn't care, I have no idea.

No, he's left at home with their kids. He took them on a road trip while she was gone.

My bro is incredibly introverted, and has very few friends.

She wears the pants in that family, I believe, but I don't live there. I can only base it on what I see when they are both around.

This reinforces my previous reply.  On one hand: who cares ... The other hand is packing bags.
