Anyone own a Mazda CX?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at the 2024 Mazda CX-50 Turbo. My Jeep has 160k and I'm thinking about going automatic shift with a little get up and go for once instead of my slow rolling 6 speed manual that can crush things in 4WD but only goes from 0-60 in like 2 hours. AWD should be good enough on the Mazda small SUV.

I hear they are very reliable and pretty fun to drive.

Anyway, just wondering.

Don’t own one but test drove a 2023 Meridian package. Really liked it , not a lot on the road around here which to me is a plus. No real negatives stood out for me besides the lack of touchscreen . I ended up buying a Subaru Outback Wilderness and was coming from an Outback. I would have no problem with the CX50

I own 2 CX-5s and a CX-30.  Great cars.

I was first looking at the CX-30 and car and driver suggest the select sport as the one to get of that group for various reasons. And for the CX-50 group they suggest the turbo and I think for once I would like that get up and go. Thanks for the input.

I owned a small Toyota pick up for 7 years a while back. Never had and problems with it exept for I ended up needing more cabin space.

Wife drove a CX-9 that we traded off 18 months ago.  Had no problems with it other than defective wheels.  Mazda ended up replacing all 4 during the warranty period.  It didn’t accelerate the way I expected for such a large engine, but she was happy with it and we never needed to do anything other than routine maintenance during 6 years.

ETA:  depending on which one you’re looking at and what package, the BMW  X5 she got to replace the Mazda is 1000x the car and might not cost you that much more.

Not utilitarian enough.  Wrangler or Pickup.

Yeah. I love my Wrangler. Bought it new in 2013. Just ready for a different style and some automatic transmission for a little while with a some 0-60 upside.

I'll probably test drive a Rav 4 but I think it's bigger than I need these days.

Haha first thing that came to mind.

But being serious, lezbarus are great cars.  I'm not familiar with the Mazda from the OP but if I could afford it, I'd get a truck.  Love trucks.   Can't afford them anymore.

My daughter recently bought the Toyota Corolla Cross and loves it; it's a step down in size from the Rav 4.  One downside is the engine does not break any performance records, so if that is your goal, you might want to stick with something like the Mazda.

IIRC, the comparable Mazda crossover was the highest rated of whatever site I was looking at at the time, mostly because of its performance.  As somebody mentioned above though, it had a tiny screen which wasn't touch.  I currently have a Lexus ES 350 without the touch, and while the screen is decent sized, I'll never go without the touch again.

The new Mazda's have touch screens, but I like the knob.

I always liked Mazda pickups. I drove a few B2000's backinaday. I had a Tacoma for a while and loved it, but ultimately traded it because it was too small for family camping trips and really underpowered.

Thanks.

I never had a touch screen in my cars but had them in rentals plenty of times. This one has a 7" display. Not sure if that is considered small or if it's touch screen or not. I like the knob as well though as Gutter mentioned above. As far as the radio I'm pretty stuck in my presets on XM radio. 4 or 5 specific music stations 4 sports stations, and maybe the comedy channel or whatever. I'll have to take a look at their navigation system to see if I want it as it's an add on for the car I'm looking at I think.

Toyotas are always in the picture so I may take a test drive but I like the dimensions of the Mazda CX50 at this point along with the 256 horsepower turbo engine. Of all things though, I have my Wrangler in the shop for an oil change and a couple warning lights. Seems the airbag behind the steering wheel needs a new spring and some check engine code that is even cryptic for mechanics is on. I told the guy, who I've known for years now, that I'm going to probably sell the car (if I don't keep it as a second car that is) and all I want to do is make it safe. Nothing extra at this point. The Wrangler has been awesome til it hit about 140,000. Then it has needed a lot of work.

Also the touchscreen is disabled when driving, but the knob is not and it navigates well.

So Android and Apple car play is what you will use anyway.

Those were solid little trucks. I wanted a 1990s B2600i some kind of bad.

It appears the 2024 CX 50 doesn’t have touch. It was a deal breaker for me earlier this year. Also  hate the screen location

Those were nice rigs in the 90s. I had a B2200 with a flatbed that I absolutely loved, but it met an untimely end in a blizzard. Alas, it wasn't 4WD.

There is nothing wrong with the Subarus, sir.  They are quality cars for the most part.  Seriously

The lesbian thing is just a bonus
