It's Portland.  So it's now up to the parents to do the brainwashing.

That is unfortunate for the children...  I can't imagine all of Portland teachers are left-leaning teachers and actually keep politics out of the classroom, unless it is a civics or history class...

Well....another policy they are arguing about is the suspension policy. Native and AA children are apparently suspended more than their white counterparts; which feeds into systemic racism.

So, while on strike, let's just keep them ALL out of school, not just the kids that make threats or cause harm to other students (these are the suspendible issues they are questioning, along with HOW kids are suspended). Currently, teachers do not suspend the kids. Kids are referred to the board for the issue that occurs and if it meets criteria, kid is suspended. Apparently this is not fair to the non-white children.

F@ck Portland.

Kids are better off than going to any public school nowadays.  Too many degenerates, weirdos and lunatics in the teaching prrofession.  Until we can purge all of those Marxists from our institutions, I say we keep the kids home.

Oh, I'll wear it on my sleeve.  It's not "White" privilege.  It's good parenting privilege.  When the LAUSD decided to implement forced busing in Los Angeles, and I would have had to spend a year going to school in the ghetto, my parents enrolled me in a private school in the Santa Monica mountains where I took horseback riding for PE.  No doubt I was privileged.  So is Bronny James.  So what?

Why the fock wouldn't I?  You say it like it's a pejorative, but who WOULDN'T want their kids to have privilege?  What a lot of people don't acknowledge is that like many things in life "privilege" is a relative term.  Compared to people who communicate by using "tok tok" sounds and walk around in loin cloths even the poorest black people in this country have "privilege."

With the crappy stuff that’s being taught in schools I’m glad to see this, I hope they never get their jobs back.  Schools are simply being used to corrupt the thinking of kids.   Home school.  Make a difference in your child’s life, don’t let the government get a strong hold for n the kids.

The 100 plus nights of rioting completely crashed Portland's overall budget. Not just for 2020 but cascading for years and years to come. Departures in their local law enforcement requires replacement, if possible. Which is expensive in training costs. All the overtime for the police there and other emergency services for the endless riots, burning and looting racked up a huge bill. It's not like you could stop paying those officers holding the line, night after night, for endless hour after hour.

Then Governor Kate Brown finally deployed the National Guard, in force, AFTER Biden had the presumptive victory over Trump in the 2020 general election. Only AFTER. Despite desperate pleas from elected officials down the ticket in Oregon to send them in to help them.

It was politically expedient for Team Blue and the DNC to let small businesses burn. It was a veiled threat - If you elect Trump, you'll get more of this and it will never ever stop.

But it also crashed the budgets all over the state. This is why Pelosi pushed so hard for "stimulus", because it also included massive funding to high population cities, which means Big Blue Cities. Because without that, with all the furloughs needed to meet the shortfall, it would cause an endless stream of city and state employees to start voting hard Red.

So not only did small businesses get torched and looted, not only did the quality and quantity of law enforcement collapse, not only did this increase inflation and the deficit, but it also dovetailed into impacting the budgets of all the education sectors in Oregon too.

This was the price of "Orange Man Bad"

Keep in mind Kate Brown was caught using state funds to pay for her personal law license renewal. And for her various vacations. The people she hobnobs with send their kids to wealthy elite private schools.

Well, in Oregon, they voted for it. Now they get to watch their children and their children's futures burn for it. Except not everyone voted for it. Some voted against it. But some didn't vote at all. But that's the problem for the Democrats now. Now people who didn't vote before are going to vote. In SF, elderly grandparents, seeing their grandchildren disbarred out of advanced high school courses for "equity", began voter drives. Tired exhausted older people who don't speak any English. The message was sent out - They are coming for our kids and grand kids. So now the school boards in SF got a bunch of people kicked out. Now there are clear pockets of hard Red in what were previously Blue strongholds and safe zones. It's not because they love the GOP so much, it's because Team Blue decided to declare war on America's children. How stupid do you have to be to mess with people's kids?

You don't care. Wait until something spins out of control where you live. Near your neighborhoods. Close to where you live. And tears apart your own children. Then you'll care.

Fock all unions

I used to be there.   But, over time I have come to better appreciate the role of unions.  Are they corrupt?  You bet your sweet arse they are..... but they have also given us a range of pretty good situations today, ALL of us benefit from union-related actions of the past.

SO....what do we do then?   Well, we can agree that public school is struggling, and in part due to union-related factors.....  so those of us who can step away from it should. But then we are leaving many people behind to fend for themselves.

Generally speaking, teachers work hard and care.  The schools are rather well funded.   But the kids are not putting in the effort.  And rather than challenge them, we lower standards.  So we are dooming these kids by acquiecing to their own laziness.  Parents are the real problem here.

This is why even though we have disagreed many times I often can appreciate what you say because you can speak in a very measured manner.

Unions are a necessary evil still in the world today and as you said- there is a lot of good that has come from them in an overall sense.

As to the parent situation- the term used often is "snowplow parenting." It's the idea that (and I'm quoting here): seeks to remove all obstacles from a child’s path so they don’t experience pain, failure, or discomfort. Schools then acquiesce to it because 1.) you end up getting into legal battles if you don't and 2.) people don't support schools if they would try to go otherwise, so why bother? So we are developing kids that accomplish things but have no resilience or perseverance as traits

I mean I'm not but Hoseman likes to shop his woman out to people so they have a chance there. They just need to make sure they bring their quarter like everyone else.

Thanksgiving Day 2022

Thanksgiving Day for the year 2022 is celebrated/ observed on Thursday, November 24th.Thanksgiving Day in the United States is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November each year. Traditionally it is a time to give thanks for all the sacrifice and hard work done for the harvest. In modern times people take time off work (4 day weekend starting Thursday) and spend time with family and friends over a large feast held on Thanksgiving Day.

Oh no..a jerkoff who posts on a fantasy football message board under a 4th or 5th name scrolled through a bunch of posts to find some posts I made on a holiday while dinner cooked in the oven.....How will I ever survive?

Oh right- I don't define myself through Twitter sh!tposting to a bunch of faceless dorks in lieu of having an actual personality. Now write your typical long post of nonsense with bold and italics and 400 links and I'll go back to just scrolling past your nonsense like before.
