I'm in a pretty good place

Recommended Posts

Things are seemingly going well at the moment.   I feel really settled, feel like I'm killing it at work, marriage is healthy, and overall I'm really enjoying the place I'm at.

That hasn't always been the case.   I've lost close family members, went through a terrible divorce with custody issues and it hasn't always been easy.   And I don't feel like I'm taking where I'm at now for granted, because I realize most things are well beyond my control, it can change in the blink of an eye, and others are hurting and struggling even though I'm not at the present time.

Holidays are especially hard, and I hope for each of you, you are at peace and if not that you will soon find it.   I hope you find yourself in a place where I feel like I am, where family life is going well, work is going the way you want, and you're finding time to enjoy the better things in life.   It helps too when your favorite sports teams are really good.   Or at least two of them where the third doesn't upset you near as much.

Some of you might know I lead a local non-profit.  We have a very small fundraising team and recently the two support positions I did have left, leaving me with little to no support for fundraising.   This was right in the middle of a major capital campaign.   Through the transition we've realized tremendous success, are near our $3M+ goal and are looking to break ground on the project in the spring.   I just feel like I'm killing it right now, and have just filled one of the spots and getting close on the other.   Now that I brag things will probably go to all hell, but I feel like I'm far enough along now I can't screw it up too much.

I hope if you're not where I'm at, you focus on what you can to get there and things start going your way so you do get to a place you want to be :)

Jesus is that place, and it’s good all year long.  Turn to Jesus.

I think you underestimate how much I appreciate the competition.   Yes those are my favorite teams.   But I accept when they are bested by better teams, and then hope they will improve on areas they fall short.   I aspire for my favorite teams to be among the best in the world, support them as much as I can, and acknowledge when others are more deserving of accolades. It's not a bad place to be.
