Dan Campbell or Zay Flowers?

Campbell passing up points to keep going for it on 4th down on the road, gives all momentum to SF….allows the team to run it on 3rd to waste a timeout. 
 

Flowers taunting, reaches for a score and fumbles instead of going down and making it 1st and goal at the 1, hurts his hand in frustration at his own stupidity.

I knew it would be Campbell but Flowers was very bad. 
 

1. not every player needs to shove a defender back down and then taunt them (while losing)

2. Yes, a lot of players would reach for the end zone but notice how lions backup TE didn’t do that at the end if their game? He pushed toward the end zone but didn’t expose the ball. After it happened already in these playoffs you have to be more situationally aware

3. then, you cut your hand up in frustration when you know you’re the top weapon for Lamar

Campbell for sure. He let emotion affect his decision making. As a head coach that's unacceptable. If he kicks those FGs it's a whole different game.

Campbell has done what he's done all year...and it's got them where they are.  Dance with who brung ya.

Zay Flowers....was trying to make a play when he fumbled.  That's what most athletes do- is try to make plays.  Was it a "mistake" ?  Well duh. Hindsight is 20/20.

Things happen.  I'd say neither of those things I just mentioned was a choke.

Now...the taunting.

That sh!t chaps my hide more than anything.  The penalties that are decisions.  PI, Holding, 12 men on field, false start....aren't conscious decisions.

The folks that can't control their emotions and make a conscious decision to ##### their team.... That's the stuff I'd lose my sh1t over.  

Risk vs Reward for taunting:

Risk - your team loses game.

Reward - none. 

Seems like an easy decision.

So the answer..... is Zay Flowers fvcked his team.

Campbell didn't choke. But, he clearly lacked an understanding of the difference between regular season and playoff football. Fourth down stops in playoff games, particularly on the road, create hope and momentum. And, you HAVE to get the game to 27-27 when you have a chance to. It's wasn't a choke. It was just a couple of very poor decisions from a guy who sometimes thinks more with his balls and his heart rather than his brain.

but he's obviously not a dumb person. I feel like the inability to realize the situation but STILL do your full throttle style is a choke. I think of Phil at winged foot. A couple of very poor decisions by a guy who often thought with his balls/talent over the brain/situation.

Players try to make plays, yes... but some players can be aware of the situation. Like when you see a player seemingly unaware of where the sticks are, it drive you crazy. In that situation, after just having made a very stupid and selfish penalty, you have to protect the football because you should be aware that you've made a first down (i believe it was 2nd and 8 from the 9 yard line?) and that you can punch it in on the next play... 

 

the answer is Campbell. He has to be aware this isn't the regular season. but I found myself wondering what the hell was wrong with Zay Flowers that entire sequence.

Flowers win choker of the game.

It's fine because he will grow up a bit now after he looks back on the game and teammates and coaches tell him to get his shlt together and he helps me kick ass in my dynasty league next year.
