I respectfully disagree with you . I think it’s true that Biden needs to quit and is at a major disadvantage if he stays in. But in the event (unlikely now IMO) that he stays in I still think he would have a fighting chance due to this speech by Trump. Say a 35% chance (versus a 10% chance before the speech.)

How many people actually stayed awake to watch this thing? Went past midnight east coast.  His previous rambling speeches didn't move the needle either.

How is the press covering this?  Trump talks about assassination attempt, Trump spreads message of unity, Trump surrounded by family says wants to be president for everyone.

I think Harris will be the candidate as well, and a better one than Biden in terms of competing with Trump.  But in the end I think people have had enough of bad policy, and Harris is just a subpar candidate.

God Bless Father Trump for preaching unity and his eternal optimism.  Unfortunately, his message will always fall flat to those indoctrinated by MSM propaganda, bias and hate.  He is just going to come to grips with the fact you have to walk around or step over these hopeless cases like a turd on a California sidewalk in order to move ahead to find a strong enough fire hose to wash it into the sewer.  
 

Real Americans love his message of peace, unity, strength and prosperity.

The problem with your assumption is that, per consistent polling, the public largely agrees with Harris’ policy positions far more than they do with Trump on the vast majority of issues.

I think there are a range of polls, and I think we could each find some that suggest a given candidate is considered better or more popular, but I also think that Biden has fomented enough problems for many Americans that it remains a problem for the Party and by extension Harris as well.  This coupled with her apparent inability to be of much value in any other way creates some challenges for her.  The question is whether or not the irrelevant stuff (gender, skin color) would be enough to sway those independent voters. I think she could make some hay on abortion if she leaned into that.....

Keep in mind there is a stark difference in how well people feel between the Trump and Biden terms.....and people remember their lives being much better under Trump.

I think you’re making stuff up. I wanted Biden to win, predicted he would many times. But I don’t think I ever wrote anything like “done deal”. Always assumed it would be close. But in the end I believe in the basic goodness of the American people. That part is true.

That’s just false.

Tim saying it was worse than Biden’s debate performance is ridiculous. It was nowhere near that bad and ultimately won’t be damaging.

But it wasn’t good either. Started off okay although typically way over the top. But then he veered into grievances and super dark visions that probably really turned off anyone but super hardcore MAGA types.

If he’d actually delivered a decent message on unity that might’ve been impactful. But he cannot help himself
