Elon Musk deletes post questioning the Trump assassination attempt

Elon Musk deleted a post Monday morning that questioned why former President Donald Trump has faced two apparent assassination attempts in recent months while President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have not encountered any. Musk later claimed the post was a joke.

“And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala 🤔,” Musk wrote in the now-deleted X post.

Musk initially resisted numerous calls throughout Sunday night to delete the post. In one post responding to a demand to take down his remarks, Musk doubled down: “No one has even tried to do so is the point I’m making and no one will.”

But Musk was ultimately persuaded by an X post that said Musk’s “obvious intent” may be misinterpreted.

What an ass-🤡

Sorry loser but I’m done playing ring around the rosey with you  you’ve been exposed and now you’re crying like a baby back B1tch. I’m done with you. I’ve got work today and I’m not going to bother with a pathetic lying piece of Sh1t just cause you don’t have a job, a family, a home, friends, or even anything worth living for besides being on this forearm 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You said you were cool with bomb threats at schools because of Trump and Vance's comments. Just own it liar.

While I haven't seen any evidence that this was faked, it wouldn't be shocking given the timing.  Coming off a disaster of a week for Trump, he gets to switch the narrative and fund raise, play the victim, etc.

Harris can't let that happen.  She has to stay on message and even go after gun laws as a way to keep Trump safer.  If an insane person can easily get a gun and get with a few hundred yards, there is a problem.

I was kidding. Of course it isn't staged or faked. It would be insane to even play around like that for a candidate.

But I knew it would trigger and catch someone and of course Reality took the bait. Dude is as smart as the chair he blasts store brand Cheeto dust farts into while typing online.

So that's the test?

Trump saying that Kamala Harris is a threat to democracy or that if she wins we won't have a country left or she will start WW3 or that it will be the last election, that's not rhetoric because no one got a shot off?  But once they do, is it rhetoric then?

Not precisely.  The difference is everyone knows that trump is hyperbolic, and secondly when Trump makes some outlandish claim, it's usually only Trump.   The left is far more organized in their messaging and use the media to disseminate that message.

So on the right, it's Trump riffing, and on the left it's a coordinate campaign with the backing and constant amplification by the media.

So yeah, you can find examples, especially of trump, where the right says something that'll get people riled up for a minute.  On the left, though, it's a steady coordinated drum beat that is amplified and repeated over and over in order to brainwash the army.  And it's obviously working.

That's why you hear the jokes that the lefty's got their new programming.  You guys all fall right in line with whatever The Party messaging is almost immediately.  You guys are very well trained.

Wait- the right doesn't coordinate their messaging?

Take this pet eating story. That started as a fake rumor on Twitter. People picked up on it over and over including the VP nominee. Then the President stated it in a debate. Then the MAGA people started memeing it and fabricating videos and more stories to show it was happening there and in other nearby towns.

Social media has allowed these stories to quickly flame up and populate the cycles.

Try to read it again.

But yeah, let's take the pet eating as an example.  That was a coordinated message.  Not "Kamala is going to become a dictator and must be stopped."

Yes.  But again that's different than, "Kamala will be a dictator."

I think the right is pretty coordinated in how they approach their attacks. It just takes on a different trajectory at times. But I'm not going to handwave away what they do.

You're easily manipulated.  Trump has an army of sycophants (like you) who will repeat his lies and rhetoric.  He has Fox News, the most watched cable news network by far, to amplify the rhetoric, and now he owns (via Musk) twitter which arguably has the most social media influence.  So it is in fact, a coordinated propaganda machine.  It's not "riffing" and "hyperbole" as clearly demonstrated on Jan 6 or more recently in Springfield and the bomb threats.  It wasn't hyperbole that caused one of his followers to murder a bunch of blacks in a supermarket or another to murder hispanics in a Walmart espousing the great replacement theory.  It was the right that shouted "You will not replace us" as they marched in Charlottesville.

and Trump is so good at this propaganda, that he tells you the other side is doing exactly what he's doing.  It's projection.  You're in a cult.

Trump has had 2 attempts on his life. In both instances the medias first reaction has been to put attempted assassination in quotes making it appear that it was a possible hoax or a mistake while running the story. It seems weird and I can assure you that if Biden or harris were to have an attempt on their life it would be taken at face value right off the bat.

Dude, sorry you can't see the same thing happening to conservatives in this country, but it is.

And can you maybe clue the rest of us in as to when we should believe Trump vs when he's being 'hyperbolic?' Seems to me that's a giant cop out, since he's hyperbolic about damn near everything. He can say whatever whackadoo shlt he wants, and we're supposed to give him a pass? Fuk that. He's applying for a job as leader of the free world, not starting right fielder on your beer league softball team.

Once again, you are correct that both sides have use the media to spread messaging.  That is 100% correct.

On one side, the message is "too much uncontrolled immigration is bad because it will cause increase in crime.  Illegal immigration must be stopped."

On the other side, "it's Trump is going to install himself as dictator and must be stopped."

So I guess, is the point of this comparison that it's okay to inflame violence against trump (all while saying violence isn't okay, of course) because there is probably increased violence against illegal immigrants?

My point is rhetoric on the left is leading directly to attempts on Trump's life.  Your point seems to be that it's okay since the right uses rhetoric, too, but rhetoric that a policy must change is a little different than rhetoric that this one guy is going to end democracy leading people to try to kill him. That's my point.

The point of the post, once again, is that the analogous outlandish statements on the right aren't as coordinated and distributed.  "Trump is a threat to democracy" has been the message for two straight years.

Soooo the left has MSNBC, CNN, and NPR including a host of websites like yahoo and salon that pump out nonstop dnc propaganda. I have listened as NPR has went from being a trusted news source to becoming part of the media arm of the DNC. Same with CNN. They used to be someone you could turn to for actutal news. now they are MSNBC light and fuckk the white man btw, MSNBC was always a DNC propaganda machine. I say all this as an independent that looks at both sides. Of course Fox is the media arm of the RNC but the fact is the rest of the media is VERY slanted to the democratic party.

Yeah, after the first attempt, I was hopeful some of the rhetoric would get turned down. I even retired my favorite pejorative term for Trump supporters. Doing my part and all.

But I'm having a lot of trouble with this continued insistence that it's the fault of those using hyperbolic rhetoric against Trump that he's being targeted when he hasn't dialed back his own rhetoric at all. One could argue he's turned it up. And how is "Trump is a threat to democracy" a call for violence but "they're destroying your country" just a cute little Trumpism we should let slide?

Sorry, I hate what's going on and am against violence, period. But Trumpster fire brings all of this on himself.

No, the point is to show your hypocrisy and in that vein mission accomplished.

Political violence is not OK for either side.  You can't support the political violence of Jan 6, support violent rhetoric, and then admonish the other side for violent rhetoric without looking like a fool as you are.  You can't say "If I'm not elected the country will cease to exist" and "I will be a dictator on day one" and then cry about the other side spreading violent rhetoric.

We've had 2 attempts on Trumps life.  The first assassin there is nada evidence that he subscribed to any of this left wing rhetoric and so far it's the same for the second assassin.  You might have a point if either of these assassins were blue hair trannies with nose rings and Harris T-shirts but that's not the case.  They both appear to be mentally ill gun nuts who either supported and or voted for Trump.

I am glad DeSantis is going to do his own investigation.  Looks like someone was feeding this Regime assassin inside information on Trump.  We can’t trust the Secret Service and FBI.  I hope DeSantis has some real pipe hitters that can get to the truth.

FWIW, Sheriff says Routh never fired any shots.  The shots came from the secret service who called it in.

This was known.  The agent who shot was working a hole ahead of Trump and saw the barrel peaking through the bushes and opened fire.  Why would the assassin have opened fire before his target was in view?

The left  normalized harsh rhetoric and political violence a while ago as a result of their TDS. It’s what we do as a country now.  It’s where we are. Hopefully prosecuting and imprisoning your political opponents continues as well. Embrace the decline. Nice job libtards.

When was it known? I don’t see that discussed in this thread, and hadn’t seen it specifically called out until watching Breaking Points this morning.  I see multiple other right wing influencers that wrote Trump was “shot at,” even the now-edited NY Post article from the OP (which originally stated “two people exchanged gunfire” and Trump wasn’t the target), still says “Authorities have yet to determine if the shooter got off any rounds at the Secret Service agents or at Trump.”
