New Study -Turns out the Earth is at about it's coldest point of the last 485 million years

Recommended Posts

I know.  I know.  Right wing Washington Post.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2024/09/19/earth-temperature-global-warming-planet/

Look at that graph.  We've been much hotter.  And, according to the article, they found a clear link between CO2 and temperature.  What they've been telling us for the last couple decades is that once we pass a certain point of no return, we will never be able to lower the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.  But, this research suggests that's exactly what has happened in the past.  So, we can take that talking point off the board.  They also paint a doomsday scenario where if it does get a little bit hotter we won't be able to handle it.  That makes no sense given our level of technological advancement, allowing us to adapt better than any species has in the past.  Plus, we have AI now which can solve anything.

In any event, this article is another trying to create more climate change hysteria but in reality, when scrutinized, it shows that any climate change issues we're facing can be managed and adapted to.  We should continue trying to be better stewards of the environment but we should not destroy our economy, way of life, and standard of living doing so.

Yeah, that is a terrible graph for the narrative that this is the warnest year ever.  We barely avoided going back into an ice age.   We are supposed to be at a tripping point where  the entire earth will be flooded which if the graph is accurate the earth should have been folded for most of its history.

Global Cooling!!!

Proven that, yeah, that's what the Earth does. It's normal.

Global Warming!!!

Proven that, yeah, that's what the Earth does. It's normal.

CLIMATE!!!

Once again proven that, yeah, that's what the Earth focking does. :wall:

Liberals are so stupid.

I think you may have not read the entirety of the article.

Also- good to see we can acknowledge the Washington Post isn't biased.

The folding of the earth scares me.  I don't think I would want to be in the crease when that happens.

Maybe when it folds it will be like one of those old Mad Magazine things where it shows an image or saying.

Thus, why it was switched from Global Warming to Climate Change. Biggest Scam the World has ever seen, surpassing Covid by a landslide.

It should've always been called climate change. Calling it global warming just allowed dummies to walk outside and say "Oh it's 0 degrees...but I thought global warming," like they are the first person to say it.

The bolded shows your fundamental misunderstanding of the issue and nearly all your conclusions are wrong.

Tim, you have zero rights pointing fingers at other people regarding this. You are the king of misinformed and misunderstanding. Just sit down and watch from the gallery.

If only humans could have been around back when the earth was warmer to stop all that human-sourced rise in temperature.

Tim can only parrot what his media tells him.  He can't see scientific data and question why that is completely different than what he has been told for the last 40 years.  He just goes along with the unfounded spin about how this shows how fast temps are rising today.  Historically the temps have been changing rapidly throughout our billions of years and there is not enough granularity enough to say whether the last decades is faster or slower.

This is hilarious.  Yeah let's look at the temperature 485M years ago, 484.7M years before humans were ever here.  Like this has any bearing on what has happened the past 100 years.

So dumb.

He didn't even read the first paragraph:

Quote

offering a reminder of how much change the planet has already endured and a warning about the unprecedented rate of warming caused by humans.

The sharp uptick toward the end of the graph shows what humans are doing.

Quote

At no point in the nearly half-billion years that Judd and her colleagues analyzed did the Earth change as fast as it is changing now, she added:

“In the same way as a massive asteroid hitting the Earth, what we’re doing now is unprecedented.”

🤣

Let's parrot what a MAGAturd has held up - a Washington Post article that contains alarmist quotes from scientists saying that humans are having an unprecedented effect on global warming.

The fact that the earth was warmer before humans were around doesn’t have any bearing on whether human activity contributes to warming. I’m not a big environmental guy but you’re making a facile argument here.

If you have 485,000,0000 data points on how the earth behaves, only an absolute buffoon would say to ignore it and keep pushing this outright lie of a 2 degree tipping point which is the fear-mongering to drive draconian policies on how we live.   Keep bootlicking.

It tells us that the narrative of the 2-degree tipping point which will doom the entire human population is total BS, and the retarded policies which they push are just money and power grabs.  If they wanted to solve the problem and actually believed the crap they peddled, we would be building nuclear plants as fast as we can.   But we haven't gone there in over 40 years of these effing lying bastards rhetoric.

MAGAturd morons eschew science that doesn't fit their politics and fossil-fuel lust.

I love my gas-guzzling pickup truck but understand we have to gradually ween ourselves off fossil fuels because they fock up the planet and will run out some day.

I could go on and on with links but no reason to.  But you're telling me we haven't been told there is a point of no return.  GTFOH.

I've studied the data from arctic core samples that shows a dramatic increase in carbon since humanity grew more industrialized. Carbon emissions contribute to global warming by trapping heat, which has accelerated the Earth's warming, as the focking graph shows and the scientists point to in this article.

LOOK AT IT, dumbass!

Sure, but the liars want to tell us that the earth was perfectly stable until man came along.  The bastards lied to us by pushing the 'hockey stick' theory and they destroyed anyone who dared questioned that.   Now it is apparent that the earth has a very long history of being much much much warming and life flourished.  Is man impacting the environment.  Absolutely.  But we do no know how much is human related or if the increase will lead to catastrophic events.  Once they start pushing nuclear power, I will have some belief that they are actually trying to solve something.

you can go on and on say that " once we pass a certain point of no return, we will never be able to lower the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere".

Good, let me know when you start, because neither your quote or link state that.

Quote

Climate tipping points — the "points of no return" past which key components of Earth's climate will begin to irreversibly break down — could be triggered by much lower temperatures than scientists previously thought, with some tipping points potentially already reached. There are also many more potential tipping points than scientists previously identified, according to a new study.

The vast majority of scientist do not buy into the alarmist lies.  Those bastards have been lying for 40 years and they are 0 for 100 on their idiotic predictions.  These alarmist liars told us thinks like we were suppose to have a 20 foot rise in sea levels by 2020.
