Lebron James - 20 years - 4 titles. Did he squander his chance at GOAT?

Recommended Posts

Sorry. All that talent and 4 titles? Not good enough

Magic won 5 in 14 and those whole aids thing

Larry Bird won 3 in 13 and that bad back thing

Magic and Larry prevented each other from winning a potential 8 titles? Who prevented Lebron? Himself.

A big knock for me was him selecting his teams.

80s/90s lakers and celtics were excellent teams, but magic and bird were not jumping to others to win championships.

i vaguely recall a year or two of some older all-star/potential HOF players going to phoenix...but very rare

Don't forget, he even tried to build a Super Team and couldn't get the job done.

Barkley was traded to Phoenix in '92.  The following year, they signed AC Green to be a Sixth Man.  That's really all there was.

What you're probably thinking about is Karl Malone, Horace Grant, & Gary Payton trying to cash in on Shaq and Kobe's final year together in LA back in 2003-04.

Maybe Lequit just wasn't that good so no I don't think be squandered it.  Don't get me wrong.   He's a great player, just not GOAT level.

No OP, MJ wasn’t going to be passed.

MJ was never getting passed. Ever.

Why is LeBron more of a jr. GOAT than Duncan or Kobe? Both have more titles and played in the same era against each other.

LeBron is somewhere in the top 10, maybe even 15, around Curry. Kareem compiled plenty of stats and rings, I don't think anybody thinks he's the GOAT. LeBron is the new Kareem. Phenomenal player, probably not top 5 all-tine.

Unfortunately for Lebron. Stephen Curry happened.

It’s the LeBron maybe in the top 15 that gets me 😂

MJ is the only one who’s better. Lot of LeBron haters in this thread.

I hate Lebron but hes top 2 or 3 or 4.  Probably 2.  Yeah MJ trumps all.  Hed of had an 8 peat in that era if he didnt take off for baseball.

Lebrons longevity is impressive.  But when you see QBs playing well into their 40s.  Thr big 3 in tennis just dwarfing longevity in tennis.  MJ was drinking Miller Lites after a big game.

Duncan should have made more commercials, his 5 rings and monster stats would be more respected.

I also don't understand why it's a given that LeBron passes Kobe. Kobe has 5 as well.

Maybe he should have also scored more points, got more assists, more steals, and shot better from the free throw line.

He loves his Diddy parties that's for sure. He played like a big baby. The amount of flops he took was not how the GOAT acts. Jordan is the GOAT. Wemby might take thar crown one day.

not.

There are nine NBA players who have played 20 or more seasons in the NBA:

Vince Carter: The only player to play 22 seasons, Carter played for the Raptors, Nets, Magic, Suns, Mavericks, Grizzlies, Hawks, and Kings.
LeBron James: Played 21 seasons for the Cavaliers, Heat, and Lakers.
Dirk Nowitzki: Played 21 seasons for the Mavericks.
Kevin Garnett: Played 21 seasons for the Timberwolves, Celtics, and Nets.
Kevin Willis: Played 21 seasons for the Hawks, Heat, Warriors, Rockets, Nuggets, Spurs, and Mavericks.
Robert Parish: Played 21 seasons for the Warriors, Celtics, Hornets, and Bulls.
Udonis Haslem: Played 20 seasons for the Heat.
Jamal Crawford: Played 20 seasons for the Bulls, Knicks, Warriors, Hawks, Trail Blazers, Clippers, Timberwolves, Suns, and Nets.
Kobe Bryant: Played 20 seasons for the Lakers.

Lebron should have won at least 2, 3 more easy. He told us he was going to :dunno:

It’s really stupid to judge best ever by the number of titles. In any team sport.

Who in this thread said he was the best ever?  But saying “maybe top 15” is pretty laughable

I’d say Lebrons IQ is way lower than MJ, Magic, Bird and the rest. Probably around a 78.
