Two national LGBTQ legal organizations have filed a federal lawsuit challenging Trump's executive order barring transgender people from serving and enlisting in the military.

So, this is one of those topics I'd like to hear policy feedback from the Lefties like  @Fnord.

Trannies are not deployable, they cost the military huge $$$ to provide their treatment, and then they cost the VA huge $$$ for the rest of their lives after they leave service.

They are not considered "totally different" from LGBTQ folks, if they were the "T" would not have been included for the last 30 or so years.

We're both right. LGBTQ wasn't used in the Geek Club until 2016.... post Obergfell. But, in fact, there is a post by Spotted Owl dated to 2006 where he quotes some Portand person who was already using that term way back then.

For the most part the T was kept under wraps until the other LGB stuff went though.

The gays do not think they are a different sex than they actually are. Lesbians, Gays, Bi men and women do not think they are a different sex than what they are and should not be lumped in with trans.

The military is a different animal. I can see both sides of the argument. Ultimately, while I dislike it because it is obviously discriminatory, I think this separation is appropriate.

But there has not been one organization in this country that has taken the "T" out of LGBTQ. Not one, which means gays/lesbians/bisexuals/Qs in those organizations don't have any problem with the 'Ts" being lumped in with them (or the letter would be removed, wouldn't it?)

There is no both sides of the argument.  If you have to be on daily medication you cannot serve 

you can sign up to be a cook on base but ZERO tranny sh1t while you’re a member. We should not be paying for elective surgeries.  It’s simple

It’s not wishcasting. Now right now it might be different. But it’s always been that way.  People with asthma couldn’t serve in combat because you have to assume you can be captured or be able to survive without medication
