NFL 2025 Offseason/ Draft

Recommended Posts

The Football Giants tricked the league into thinking they were interested in Sanders, who nobody wanted in the first round, so they could trade up and draft another QB nobody else wanted in the first round.

Joe Schoen master class. :first:

I guess with the Lions picking 28th, and making no moves to change that, this was a pretty boring draft for me.

The only interesting thing was Cleveland pantsing the Jags for that pic swap.

I'd love to hear you explain to me how this was all a smokescreen and how this benefited the Giants in any way.  Go for it.

Ok dumbass. You go visit the kid. You realized he ain’t for you. You should stop going and let the world know you’re out? Get it simple Jack?

OK, so you're saying that were out on Sanders, but hosted him for a visit 2 weeks ago anyway to throw other teams off?  What's the purpose?

This should be good.

Oh I do t know, to get someone to come in front of them leaving them their choice? Or people not moving up for Dart, the actual target? Yeah, teams never do this kind of stuff. It’s all straight up and telegraphed. Your football knowledge is rivaled by your lack of economics knowledge. Disney!

Maybe I’m having trouble wrapping my head around the idea that the GM who declined Danny Dimes 5th year option, then signed him to 4 years $160m and let Saquon walk to a divisional rival, is actually some sort of low key genius,

4D chess. 😂

I’m sure you are. Seeing as this is how NFL teams operate.  It figures that one guy who grew up a jets fan and is now Mr eagle and the other guy who was a charger fan and is now a giant fan can’t figure shitt out.  lol. Y’all are obviously confused.

No one moved up for Sanders, he's still available.  No one else wanted to move up for Dart.

You're an idiot.

Smokescreen

Look, I get what you're saying.  Obviously you never want to show your cards.  This was something Gettlemen was notoriously bad at.

But to say that Sanders was never going to be the pick but they held all these visits with him anyway is just stupid.  Teams don't go this far to fake interest in a player that they will never draft.

Tardcore roots for Notre Dame and he never even went to college.

I have lived in NJ for 50 years but he says I can't be a Giants fan.

He is a weird guy.

Then why didn’t he draft the guy he spent all that time on?

who knows? let's see him make a move that leads to the Gmen not sucking before claiming he is playing chess here.

They didn't draft Sanders because they didn't want him on their team.  They wanted Dart.  It's all rather simple.  The fact that they spent so much time with Sanders and didn't draft plus the fact that he's still available just tells you how he's not a first round pick despite all the hype.

In the end, they went with Dart. Hard to say how much of a hard decision it was. Gmen is a good spot for Dart. He can sit and maybe develop. Daboll can help him. I think going from a one read system to nfl decision making will be tough. I will be surprised if he really works out.

ehh, i'm not making any claims about Sanders. I think the more we had leak from teams and sources the more obvious it was that he would fall out of the first round (compared to early chatter that he wouldn't make it past 9).

but this comment screams not knowing anything about the NFL. Teams host or visit players they have no intention of selecting all the time. Or players they have some interest in but may not be highest on their draft boards. Teams absolutely play games if they think it can throw other teams off.  It's also possible that Sanders was 3rd on the Giants QB board and that they liked him but liked Dart more. If Dart gets picked by New Orleans or Pittsburgh or someone trades up higher than the Giants were able to, maybe they make a move for Sanders. If you think theres a chance you might pick a player, even as your second or third preference, why wouldn't you have him in for a visit?

Stefanski is a helluva coach. I don't blame J-ville for moving up to grab Hunter, but the haul Cleveland got was great. I think they'll be a potential playoff team next year.

agree, I dont think 2025 they will be competitive but 26, flacco starts the first 8 goto Sanders (or whoever) but they do need a solid RB and a WR2

That's my point dummy.  Tardcore is saying that they were never going to draft him but spent the most time out of any other teams as a smokescreen.  That is not what teams do.

It's entirely possible. They were never going to draft him at 3. We won't know who they really wanted. They will claim it was Carter. Many people will think it was Hunter. If it was Hunter, they could have been hoping to trade back.  But teams do attempt to smoke screen quite a bit. Even if it has no realistic chance of impacting anything.  Plus, as already noted, they have a terrible GM.

I don't know if Sanders spent more time with the Giants than anyone else. Some of that could be because it was pretty clear he wanted to go there. Wasn't he hanging out with Nabers early in the process? and that wasn't any sort of official Giants visit.

I hadn't seen this before, but I bet it didn't help Shedeur.

Quote

“I know where I want them to go. So there’s certain cities that ain’t going to happen. It’s going to be an Eli,” Deion said in a 2024 interview, referencing the 2004 debacle in which Eli Manning and his father Archie stated they would refuse to play for the San Diego Chargers if the Chargers picked Manning No. 1. The Chargers went on to select Manning with the first pick, then traded him to the New York Giants for Philip Rivers and other picks.

Correct.  He wanted to be in NY.  The Giants had interest in him being in NY.  In the end the wanted Dart more so they chose Dart,  This is not 7D Chess like some people will try and tell you.

That is something that I have always found fascinating.  I suppose Eli always struck me as more of a daddy's boy than Peyton and we know Archie was stuck on a poorly run organization. At the time, the Giants were viewed as more stable. I don't think Rivers wins 2 super bowls with the Giants but at the same time I think Rivers did better with the Chargers than Eli would ever have. Basically, I think Rivers was the more talented QB

Who do you think drafts Shedeur Sanders now?

Browns?

Raiders?

Saints?

Jets?

Some other team, if so which team?

Round 2 order

Pick (OVR)Player

The Browns will take him with one of those early picks. If not definitely the Raiders

Good point. This is what I'm thinking too. If the Browns want him, and I think they should I think they should use their 1st pick in round 2 because otherwise I see the Raiders trading up above Cleveland's 4th pick of round 2 to take him.

Jax didn't even talk to Hunter after the columbine.   Teams do crazy stuff to hide who they're going after.

I could also see the Raiders trading up if the Browns don't take him with the 2.01
