The Psychic Observer 494 Posted yesterday at 10:40 AM President Trump is facing a dramatic drop in his approval, according to five new polls released Sunday — including one that shows he has the lowest ratings for a new presidential term since World War II. Surveys from CBS, ABC and the Washington Post, NBC, CNN and the New York Times all show Trump’s standing in the public slipping significantly since he started announcing tariffs on all of America’s biggest trading partners. In one poll from Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos, Trump’s standing was the lowest of any president in the first 100 days of his term since 1945, with 39% saying they approve of his job performance while 55% disapprove. https://nypost.com/2025/04/27/us-news/trump-battered-by-polls-that-show-his-approval-rating-sinking/ Majorities disapprove of Trump and his policies on the economy, the tariffs, immigration, doge, everything. He's a complete disaster just as I and many others predicted he would be. I would say there is egg on the maga face but they're too expensive. 1 1 2 1

zsasz 361 Posted yesterday at 12:22 PM Hasn't delivered on ecnomic promises. Carville is right about the economy. Biden's economy was slowwwly improving. If Trump had stayed that course with a few Trump tweaks...he would have been in better position today. As it is, his kicking over of the trash can is going to take some time. That being said, two of his biggest pie in the sky promisies "no taxes on Tips/OT" haven't even really seen the light of day yet. Both of those were instrumental in getting people who wouldn't normally wouldn't have voted for him to listen to him. Odd that he isn't even trying to repay those people for that.

Frozenbeernuts 2,112 Posted yesterday at 02:19 PM My approval of Trump and my wife's approval has gone up. Riddle me this, what would assume about someone when the entire corrupt system is against him? Do you think that person is the corruption? Or is it a sign that maybe there is something different about him? I believe most liberals know that the government and our institutions were compromised/not made up of good people. Liberals, just sit with this in meditation: What does the common sense side of you think when the entire corrupt establishment is anti Trump?

Strike 5,180 Posted yesterday at 02:33 PM FTA: Quote Despite the dour polling news, the president is still pulling higher marks than Democrats in key areas and maintains support of nearly 90% among Republicans. Quote Despite the unease, the vast majority of Trump’s backers do not appear to have buyer’s remorse. Quote Among Trump voters, only 6% regret backing him, while 94% believe it was the right move, the Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll found. During his first term, only 2% of that bloc had regrets at this point. Quote Pollsters largely attributed Trump’s tumble to public unease over his tariff announcements — a move something that has rattled markets I would agree with that last statement. People don't like uncertainty, and the Tariffs have definitely created uncertainty. That will stabilize and ebb over time. Trump is making a lot of moves in a short period of time. His supporters believe that's in the best long term interest of the country, and the poll results support this. You libs may not like his policies but the bottom line is he's doing exactly what he promised in his campaign, as opposed to most other Presidents of recent memory. The Real timschochet 6,388 Posted yesterday at 03:02 PM First off I don’t hate Donald Trump. For me hatred should be reserved for truly evil human beings. I regard Trump as a schmuck who is unfit for his position, but I don’t hate him. As for the polling: we all knew he would overreach and he has. Hardly surprising. But yeah, it’s the tariffs that have done this. And the thing is, we haven’t really seen the effects yet. That will start in a few weeks when the current supply of cheap goods run out and there is nothing to replace them. Prices are going to go way up overnight. It’s too late to stop: even if Trump were to lift all tariffs today it’s still going to happen. Most of the public have no idea what’s coming…

That's a much of a mandate as you're going to get in today's U.S. You may well be correct. I wonder as I have lived to see several swings in the political landscape from the rise and fall of Nixon to the overwhelming resurgence of Republicans a few short years latter after the fall of Nixon. I have seen Next Gingrich'scontract with America wax and wan in less than two years. I saw the death of the republican party declared under Obama's watch and the death of the democrqatic party declared during Clinton's capers. Still, you may be right. I even suspect that you are, taht our partisanship has taken us to a place from which there is no easy retreat, no ready change of course. All of that said, my post was about language. There is little historic about Trumps margin of victory. It is quite pedestrian in our country's relatively short history. If we are to define it on a short era, an era of the lasst decade, well we don't really know whether it is an outlier or not. Language has meaning and titles, whether earned or bestowed have context, and context and meaning are important. If we destroy language' meanings how will we communicate. Trump is boastful, full of braggadoccio and he needs these self-imposed titles adn accolades, but we do not have togo along with his pretense. Why can't we simply say that Trump won and exceeded the expectations of many, including Kamala and the mainstream press and leave it at that. I mean if he truely had a mandate congress would not be moving so slowly and assiduously counting votes as they preapre the One Big Beautiful Bill ( a label Trump Stole from Clinton referencing his ).
