For most of the stuff you listed - Nobody inspires me to do stuff, I'm pretty self-motivated. But for my career(video/motion graphics/3D animation), I'm constantly checking out certain Youtube channels, & specific companies(Nike, Apple, Google) to see what is trending, what's hot and trending. Sometimes, I'll see a well-done commercial and track it down too. When I see something I like, I'll download it and keep it in my inspiration folder. These are videos that make me want to do better work and get to the next level. Those are the things that inspire me...but mostly it's your bewbs.

To be part of a group of people - most of them far more experienced and skilled than I am - and to create something that entertains audiences is a great feeling, particularly when they're standing, cheering and loudly applauding at the end. When the cast is on, it's like being in a band that locks into a really great groove. The audience feeds on that. The performers feed on that, and then it takes on a life of its own. When the cast KNOWS it has something good (and a show full of surprises) just before the curtain goes up, there is a palpable energy and excitement that's a real high and hard to describe. I didn't know I was capable of doing theater until I got dragged into a small part two years ago. Then I did a bigger part and an even bigger part before doing a two-actor show with a 97-page script. Now, memorizing lines and going out on stage isn't intimidating at all. 4

I would have to be so drugged up to even get out on stage that I doubt I would be able to remember any lines...

I would have to be so drugged up to even get out on stage that I doubt I would be able to remember any lines... I didn't think I could, either. For that play with the 97-page script, I memorized it word by word, line by line, page by page. I memorize a word, memorize the next word, etc., memorize the line and then go all the way back to the start and run it up until the newly learned line. I just did that over and over and over. Eventually, I got to the end of the script and then constantly run it in the car, at the gym, on the riding lawnmower, wherever. I would pick up where I left off, and when I got to the end of the script, I just started over again. I was off book three weeks before the show and constantly running the script. I found that by doing that, but the time the show rolls around, it comes naturally and automatic, to the point where you can look out in the audience, see someone you know and think, "Oh, cool, that guy came to the show. Hadn't seen him in awhile ..." Ones the lines are memorized, then it becomes a matter of executing it in an entertaining way. Each actor in the play with 97-page script played 10 different characters, with costume changes for each one of them. That was madness, and if the actor offstage struggled to get into an outfit, whoever was out on stage had to engage in improv comedy, which sometimes entailed making up some ridiculous story about that character's past. One of the hardest things I've ever done, but I didn't so much as bobble a word.

Sorry to be negative here, but I don’t find inspiration in much of anything. People are almost universally a complete letdown, so that’s out. I believe in creation, but I can’t feel worshipfully inspired by an unknowable God. I guess the thing that promotes the most contented feeling in me is the beauty of nature. Beyond that, and I’m being pretty genuine here, life seems to be a pursuit of various vices and tactile pleasures.

I don't necessarily subscribe to your opinions on people being a universal let down, but otherwise I'm in your boat. I was going to jokingly just say "getting high" inspires me, but it's more like getting high in the right setting, a.k.a. in nature. I once drove through Monument Valley while stoned listening to Delicate Sound of Thunder; it was almost a religious experience it was so fantastic. Life is absolutely a pursuit of vice and pleasure. Luckily, I can find some pleasure in simple things like helping out others, hanging out with my kids (when they're not being a-holes), going to see live music, riding my bike.
