Branson, Missouri just snagged a piece of fast-food history: the very first McDonald’s buffet. Yep, you read that right. For $12.99, diners can grab unlimited Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, Chicken McNuggets, fries, and even those iconic hot apple pies.

On launch day, the place was packed. Lines stretched out the door, trays were stacked high, and some brave souls were balancing three or four fry cartons like fast-food acrobats. It looked less like a restaurant and more like a competitive eating event.

Of course, not everyone is lovin’ it. Fans are calling it the “best deal in Branson,” while critics are already warning that it’s “a health disaster waiting to happen.” One local parent told reporters, “I don’t want my kids thinking 50 nuggets in one sitting is normal.” (Fair point.) But hey, buffets are a Branson tradition, so maybe McDonald’s is just leaning into the culture.

So, is this the future of fast food or just a wild one-time experiment? Corporate isn’t saying yet. But one thing’s for sure: Branson now holds bragging rights as the city that may have changed the golden arches forever.

My son (12) has a couple friends, whose family let them eat McDs at least 3 times a week. One of the kids eats 40 nuggets.

That looks like the price for a typical meal. You gotta have some pretty bad health to put down more than a typical McD meal. I have a feeling the clientele is currently very "concerned" with food dyes.

If you were ever in good health in your life, you would know that people who are in shape can eat some fast food at times without it hurting them in the lease. I eat fast food from time to time and am in great shape. 

Maybe lose that extra 100 pounds you are carrying and get a little excercize in and you too can find out the truth of the matter.

I'm not surprised (because all the geek club members are the epitome of health) but kind of surprised at the mostly negative comments toward this.  For $12.99?  I can easily enjoy a double quarter poundher with cheese, 20 nuggets, a large fry and a drink.  Am I blessed with incredible metabolism? yes. Do I understand it's not healthy? of course. Do I admittedly enjoy fast food way too much? yup.  But there is no way i'm getting what I just listed for that price as a regular meal.  

I love korean bbq and hot pot and the places I go are usually all you can eat. It's like $40-$50 per person with maybe a 2 hour limit. I definitely eat way more than I should ever eat in one sitting.  Is that any healthier? 

I guess it all depends on your mindset. If you go to McDonalds buffet with the intention of eating so much you shit yourself while dining,  then yeah

aside from their fries being the best, and actually liking their sausage egg mcmuffin, I don't do mcdonalds very often. A big mac is mostly bread and lettuce and kind of sucks.

That's a fair point. 

It's probably a good argument for more stringent regulation of food additives. Our food is made to be addictive.

I enrolled in an allergy study in college and got paid to take some allergy pill, only after biting into one, it obviously was a placebo.

On the last day of the study, we were to spend the day outdoors, and they shipped in boxes and boxes of Big Macs and Quarter Pounders.

A friend who was in the study brought along some weed and beer, so we partied hard, threw around the Frisbee and gorged on those burgers. I ate at least a half dozen of them.

About every hour or two, we had to check in, pizz in a cup and see if being outdoors triggered our allergies.

I remember them not liking what they found in the party-hard pizz.
