Sinclair broadcasting group,  the largest affiliate of ABC that airs Kimmel, called on Kimmel to apologize and make a meaningful donation to Kirk and turning point USA.  they are going to air a Kirk tribute in Jimmy Kimmel's time slot.  They said that regardless of ABC's plans for the show they will not return it to the air until they are confident it will uphold appropriate standards.

The FCC Director threatened to use the power of the his agency to.ensure "broadcast standards of honesty" or somesuch. In conjunction, Trump told a reporter he would come after Disney and Comcast next. Disney and Comcast own ABC and NBC.

Sinclair and Nexstar decide to pull Kimmel. ABC does the same, claims it's just a quick hiatus.

The President and FCC chief just made statements of disagreement with a comedian and that comedian is quickly removed from broadcast television. 

None of the above is disputed. 

If you do not see the problem here, you are probably part of it.
