All kidding aside if we get out of this thing the precedents being set are potentially quite dangerous.

What precedents?   Not passing a clean CR?

Troops deployed into the states. Obliteration of independent appointees. Destruction of firewalls between President & DOJ & other federal law enforcement. Enabling of executive branch on appropriations. Closing of Congress. Ending of the Confirmation process for political appointees. It’s a long list.

The GOP had the votes to lockthe Democrats completely out out of the budget process, but to do so, they had negotiate closely to get nearly everyone on board and it took a massive amount of arm twisting to get those votes for the Big Beautiful Bill across the finish line. The Dems couldn't stop them then, but they can here since they will need Dem votes to fund the government. Previously, this funding the government maneuver has always been used by budget hawks to wrest a concession or two out of the bloated budget, before getting beaten to a pulp by the overwhelming and bipartisan "I don't give a fock" contingent. In this instance, the Dems, generally the party of big government, are using it to try to blow up the deficit instead.

I don't much care if illegal immigrants or work-averse societal freeloading leeches like GFIAFP are stripped of their taxpayer subsidized health care, but I would like to see SNAP funded, government offices opened, and the people who work there to get paid. These are fair and traditional debates from back in the day, when both/either party was worth voting for when the other one in charge went off the deep end and we'd need the other to rein it in.

I despise the Democratic Party and recognize then as vile, evil human scum turds that have been spawned directly from Satan's colon for other reasons.

The Big Pitiful Bill did way more to blow up the deficit than any legislation since Trump’s first term tax cuts.

Billionaires keep getting richer, the rest of us get poorer, and the GOP are accelerating the process.

GOP is pinching pennies with working class benefits while handing out trillions to the richest people. This is class warfare, and 77 million in the losing class voted for their wealthy conquerors. Truly an idiotic bunch of people.

Normally this is the time (it’s way past time actually) that a normal President calls a meeting with the leaders on both sides in the Oval, and a deal is quickly hammered out. This is the way every past shutdown has ended.

Unfortunately at this point it is about winning public opinion. Both sides have their issue they are dug in on and will tell you with absolute conviction they are right, why they let this happen, etc.

When people with nothing are about to lose their 150 a month for food or whatever it’s in poor taste for the Prez, the one who this all is on paraphrasing his own words, to post about his new bathroom tile like he’s a home improvement game show.

I think I've got it.

1. Dems try to use the CR to not continue things but rather to undo stuff they don't like in the BBB and help keep Schumer from getting primaried by a far left candidate.

2. MSM tells simple people it's the R's fault.

3. Gutter posts.

How'd I do?

I already explained why this is Trump's fault.  He's the president.  It's his job to resolve this but he's at a Halloween party.

It's actually not his job.  You might think so because congress has ceded so much power to the Executive branch over the last 40 years.  I've been harping on that for literally decades.  But you might not be aware but budgeting and appropriations are the job of congress, not the President.  There's a reason our forefathers created a system of government that has 3 distinct branches.  HTH.

Your argument might have some validity in theory but in practice it’s his job. It’s been the President’s job pretty much since FDR.
I would also add that every modern President when they run for office, including this one, makes all kinds of campaign promises based on the implication that they are in fact responsible for the actions of Congress and all of federal government.

So then you would agree with me that the president cannot cancel congressional appropriated funding like he has, correct?

You walked right into that one, dummy.

So of course it's not the presidents job to pass a budget, but whose job is it to ensure the govt stays open, to bring both sides together to forge a compromise?

You might not believe this but most people agree it starts and ends at the top.

>>He's living his best life while millions of Americans face hunger.

Although they voted for him, not one raggedy-toothed MAGA was invited.<<

They know, maga revels in it. The whole idea is communists & trans-wokists will destroy the country if they’re allowed to take power, so 1. Everything is permissible, & 2. If it upsets the libs it’s good.

The GOP overrode the filibuster this year for:

  1. Killing EV mandate in California
  2. Passing $3.8 trillion in tax cuts for the top 1%
  3. Confirming presidential cabinet positions en masse

But they won’t do it to keep the government open. GOP priorities laid bare.

That's the whole point of the CR.  To give everyone time to negotiate.  Your side refuses to pass it.  That's why it's their fault the gov't is shut down.  This isn't complicated.

I think Gutter has had one too many pumpkin IPAs tonight.

There is this concept called time.  Coverage in the beginning is now changing, as the MSM sees that the general public is increasingly not buying the ridiculous concept that it is the R's fault because the D's vote the CR down every day.  The polls reflect earlier coverage, hence why Joe and Jane Normie blame the R's.  HTH, but I doubt it.

Well the Dems are saying the time to negotiate is now.  Trump can either pass the CR on his own or negotiate.  He's doing neither.  This isn't complicated.

Let me see if I follow skids logic.

First MSM told me to blame Republicans, so I listened to the MSM and blamed Republicans.

Now MSM is telling me to blame Democrats, but I'm not listening to them now?  But I still get my opinion from the MSM?

Accuses others of low IQ, accuses others of being drunk.

Also you mentioned polls, here is a poll from 2 days ago, public blames Republicans more...

A new poll released on Thursday found more Americans are blaming President Trump and GOP lawmakers in Congress than Democrats as the government shutdown hits the one-month marker.

The Washington Post-ABC survey found that 45 percent of U.S. adults say the president and Republicans are to blame for the federal shuttering while 33 percent of survey respondents say they blame Democrats.

I commented on Jake Tapper asking tough questions, and how that shows the MSDNC is showing cracks in the armor.  You've turned that into an instant change in the polls.

Tell us again how Dems voting to shut down the government on a continuing resolution is the fault of Republicans.

Liberal trump is in charge, one can’t blame the republicans, one must blame the liberal president that those fools voted for.

Jake tapper is on CNN not MSNBC.

YOU brought up how the public opinion has changed, but I proved you wrong.

I've told you multiple times, Republicans control the white house and Congress.  The Republicans have total control of government.  If it's shutdown, it's their fault.  It is very simple.

This deserves a better explanation. Allow me to rant for a bit and unpack it all. As a country we've come a long way from our more pedestrian back-and-forth debates or foreign policy, tax and social net and deficits, corporate/labor issues, energy/environmental, and abortion policy, When one party overstepped or overreached or did something that failed, you could rein them in by voting for the other party because the other party wasn't seen as an existential threat to the republic. I'd voted Gore, Kerry, Obama twice, and the 2016 election was a coinflip between Trump and Hillary, as I'd not known Trump would turn out so awesome at the time. I'd appreciated his policies more than hers but I didn't know if hew was genuine or not. He seemed like a pretentious New York jack@ss celebrity and his birtherism was ridiculous. In the end I'd sent in a 2016 absentee ballot for Hillary the day after his "grab 'em by the pu$$y" remarks went viral to make sure it arrived in time but by the day of the election, I'd changed my mind, I would have voted Trump.

Now with his second term, the cornucopia of wonderful just overflows while the Democrats have wandered off into that existential threat as servants of Mordor.

But the Democrats today are an existential threat. Let me go into some more depth.

  • More specifically the biggest enemy are the ones who tear down statues of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt and make the effort to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous People's Day. Wanting an Indigenous People's Day is fine and I would myself embrace it however insisting to put it on Columbus Day is an affront to Western Civilization.
  • You have the race hustlers that seek to enflame everyone along racial lines and the entire DEI structure. There was never a problem before George Floyd, "All Lives Matter" was taken an affront, Massive racial discrimination in school enrollment and hiring practices at leftoid companies which had to be dragged to colorblindness kicking and screaming, are just given a paint job, renamed and waiting to return with a new administration.
  • Then there are the pro-Hamas demonstrators. Being concerned about the plight of Palestinian civilians is not the issue. Wanting to globalize the Intifada and chanting "From the River to the Sea" is. I happen to notice that none of these protestors give a fock about Palestinian civilians when, after the peace deal went into effect, Hamas started executing Palestinians in the street again. Also, noticeably, these same people couldn't care less about the real and far more horrific genocides against Christians going on in Congo and Nigeria.
  • The whole trans- nightmare from mutilating the bodies of children to drag queen story hour to men in women's sports and women's spaces to the whacky fetish acts displays and nudity at gay pride parades as well as Biden's Rose Garden and Congressional Hearing Rooms. The gender ideology presented to children via decision by Disney, other media companies, and woke schools to include LGBTQ content in what should be G-rated children's TV shows and elementary school libraries.
  • The Biden pressure on Big Tech to engage in mass censorship of voices they'd wish silenced. Fortunately, this one seems to have been solved completely.
  • The soft on crime approach that results in repeat offenders going free over and over again to prey on victims.  Democrats want Jordan Neely to walk free while putting guys like Daniel Penny in prison. WTF is wrong with you people?
  • Not only the lack of cooperation to deport criminal illegal aliens but the active obstruction of ICE officers from doing their jobs including the harassment of officers at home and doxxing them. Committing every effort possible to gum up and slow down the works of the
  • The frivolous lawsuits and now the willingness of lower courts to overstep the executive, totally ignore both the law and Supreme Court rulings
  • The shift from softening the blunt edges of capitalism into embracing socialism and Marxism.

There might be more.  I think ten dots would have been better than nine.  The Democrats/media attempt to save democracy by lying about Biden's mental health, rigged their nomination twice for him, then got stuck with their unpopular DEI vice president as a candidate but I never minded since I enjoyed the show watching how that process was working out for them, let alone the end result. So no tenth dot there.
