We do the same thing for Christmas as we do Thanksgiving, but add a ham. That said, we do it like lunch, served at noon.

Come the evening, when you start to get hungry again we always get Chinese food.

That sounds like a great plan. Wasn’t a fan of doing it for lunch until I saw the Chinese food kicker

I’m assuming you’ve been in the other thread and noticed the heater I’m on. I’m keeping it college until the NFL playoffs. I can pick these bowl games off but I’m not betting sides on the last 2 weeks of the nfll season.

We just did a charcuterie board.  Between church service and the little ones opening presents, it just wouldn't work out to make a big meal.  The kids love fruit, cheese, and meats so it was a no-brainer.

We are doing monkeybread for breakfast, then ribeyes tomorrow night...Definitely looking forward to that.

We have our big Christmas dinner on Christmas eve.

Prime rib, dry aged 3 days, seared in bacon grease.

Ham, bone in, smoked with apple cider.

Lasagna, scalloped potatoes, green beans, creamed kale

Apps were shrimp cocktail, charcuterie, spinach artichoke dip.  Guests brought pepperoni roll, coconut shrimp, scungilli salad, clams casino

Quite the feast. Today is simple, chicken and dumplings

Seven Fishes

We mostly do my (Polish) family traditions.  For Christmas Eve my grandma made a bunch of fish, although I don't recall it having the "seven fishes" name.  Some whitefish, some disgusting things like pickled herring.  After she passed the family kept the tradition, except somebody one year said "you know, lobster is fish!" We're actually having that tonight instead of yesterday (mentioned in another thread that we celebrated Christmas yesterday).

We did our typical Christmas day late lunch yesterday for dinner:  honey baked ham, fresh kielbasa, homemade pierogi with sauteed onions, homemade paska bread (or challa, it's an egg bread), green bean casserole.  From my wife's family side we add "Grammy's mustard sauce" which has mustard, sugar, egg yolks... good stuff.

My wife made farmer's cheese for the pierogi, and my daughters helped make them and cook them.  I don't want to jinx them for the future, but they've nailed the technique:  not a one came apart in boiling, and they tasted delicious!

Made a perfect beef tenderloin.

Marinated it in Italian dressing and Worcestershire sauce for 24 hours.

Seasoned it with salt, pepper and dill weed and cooked it in the oven for a couple of hours at 210.

Pulled it when the internal temperature got to 120, let it sit a bit, coated it with garlic olive oil and then put in the oven for 10 minutes at 500 degrees.

Roated potatoes and carrots.

Homemade mac and cheese.

Rolls.

Salad with romaine lettuce, shredded carrots, sliced Sugar Bomb cherry tomatoes and croutons.

Chocolate-chip cookies and apple pie for dessert.

It was a family gathering, and I was suprised that maybe a serving of tenderloin was left. It was a huge piece of meat, although I did slice off four pieces for grilling down the road.

My partner gave me a great anal sex toy for Christmas, so we'll be getting into that in a bit.

Sad that you think a restaurant open on the world's most commercialized holiday is sad.

Merry Christmas.

Breakfast was a sage sausage and egg casserole. Excellent from the wife.

I have formed a new obsession with pannetone spread with honey. That was my sweet with breakfast.

For dinner I made my grandma's famous spaghetti sauce with meatballs. We had it with penne. My son, who seems to be growing more picky with food, loved the sauce.

I actually want some for breakfast. This thread is making me hungry.

That sounds amazing!!!

I don't love the traditional 7 fishes, we kinda do our own twist on it. We do what's called a Low Country Boil, it's a local tradition here in Coastal South Carolina.

We also put out some other things for the non-seafood eaters.

My in-laws do prime rib every year, for New Year I roast a whole tenderloin.

Take the beef tenderloin every time.  PR is too fatty for my taste. Seemed like a lot of waste yesterday for costing 140.00
