Reality 2,710 Posted September 19, 2017 Eli is not a HOFer. If he gets in, its an embarrassment to the museum. In the modern era, there have been 26 QB's elected. A few big ones coming up like Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rodgers. So in a way, what everyone who thinks Eli is a HOFer is saying is that Eli is one of the best 31ish QB's of the last 60 years. Most years he's lucky to be considered in the top half of the league. Just telling you how it goes, not what I think. HTH

vuduchile 1,941 Posted September 19, 2017 Emmitt didn't have Dallas' Great Wall line at Escambia High School - when he graduated he was the state's all time rushing leader and scorer. Emmitt didn't have Dallas' Great Wall line at Florida - when he graduated he was the Gators' all time leading rusher and rushing td scorer. Before Emmitt got to Dallas, not a single one of those on the Great Wall had ever made a Pro Bowl or been an All Pro. I'd watch the Football Life on Emmitt coming up on the 22nd - Emmitt was hardly deserving to be on this list. He didn't break enough ankles with his jukes. He didn't leap or run over very many defenders. And, he didn't have a lot of those run 10 yards backwards and reverse direction highlights in his career. He only worked his ass off, displayed excellent vision, exploded through holes, ground out the tough yards, displayed a nose for the end zone and led his team to some Super Bowl victories.

If Eli gets in the HOF, and he will, it's because of he beat Brady... and that's his only credentials, he beat Tom Brady... this only inflates Brady's legacy. And you all wonder why poor Doug Williams is still trying to convince the world that Elway is the GOAT. Eli's career stats are not very good. Eli's not even close to being the best QB in his era.... or maybe even in his division. But he beat Tom Brady... and that counts for more than a lot... it's EVERYTHING! Brady hasn't faced a murderers row of QB's in the super bowl. But don't let that stop your silly narrative. Jake Delhome took him to the wire. Good thing Kasay kicked the ball out of bounds. Bier Meister 1,514 Posted September 19, 2017 I have always viewed Eli as a C+ type of qb. He has had a few impressive drives here and there, but not a guy that can consistently carry a team.
tanatastic 2,061 Posted September 19, 2017 Most overrated is Warner and I have made several points to this argument. He had a great couple seasons and the one with AZ. 3 good seasons, the rest he was a joke and fumbled like none other. People always rebuttal this with But he did this and this!...Yes...3 great seasons. Splendid seasons. Not enough. But he was MVP and did this and this!...Yes, again, 3 great seasons. I commend him. Well done. Its not enough. But Tan, you are crazy, he did THIS AND THIS AND THAT, Again...sigh...Yes, 3 great seasons. Bravo, I commend him. Not enough. Any questions or concerns, just reread this post. Edit: Ill just save time for the inevitable response. Sigh...Yes..those 3 seasons were great. Wonderful, swell, much applause. Was not enough. titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted September 20, 2017 So there is no in between? Great, no. No way. Most overrated? No way either. Silly. This. Not everything is the "most _____ ever." In fact, most things aren't. Eli is a good qb who had a curve ranging from pretty sh!tty at times to amazing at times. His legacy is pretty much built on the fact that the high points of his play happened when it was the most important, on the biggest stage. Honestly, id say he's borderline HOF. Good stats, but mostly just because he played a long time and was never really hurt. Has the two rings. But was never even in the conversation for the top three in the league in any given year.
