40 percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and 34 believe the government should be able to ban any speech that is offensive to minority groups.

Websites like Campus Reform have done a tremendous job documenting the methodical way in which our public institutions have been turned against us.

 

Administrators, faculty and student government leaders who do not agree with the rampaging mob of anti-free speech protesters are threatened their voices silenced.

 

From the University of Missouri to U.C. Berkley -- where they are creating safe spaces to protect persons of color and those who identify as gender queer.

 

The University of Michigan added a three-year diversity requirement to its undergraduate curriculum in the school of business. As Campus Reform reported, they will teach students how race, gender and sexual orientation connect to larger systems of power, privilege and oppression.

 

At Dartmouth, Black Lives Matter protestors invaded the library -- verbally assaulting white students.

That's what they screamed at the kids trying to study for exams.

 

And at the University of Vermont white students were carted off to the woods for a three-day retreat on white privilege.

 

Universities are now judging students on the color of their skin, instead of the content of their character.

And, universities have never judged students on the "content of their character." They're judged on the content of their GPA /SAT (and maybe the contents of their parents' checking account)

I had a conversation/debate with my high school English teacher in 1988 about my generation xers. And for the record, I HATE hippy liberals and always have. I have a peace symbol on my senior ring. Why.....to mock my hatred for hippies. Anyway, I brought the argument that the 60's generation that were soon to be in power were a bunch of idiots that didn't know what they were doing but had their hearts in the right place. Feel good Fawkers who wanted to change the world but didn't have a chance to do so as they didn't have a direct plan to change the current establishment of the time and they were doomed to fail because of it. He disagreed that they didn't have a plan.

 

His argument was that the kids he teaches are dumb twats and the public school system as it was would be the beginning of the end and one day we'll look back at the social evolution of our society and realize that the liberal Fawking hippies do have a plan and within two generations they would become the establishment. That they would run government, schools, and replace the core of families and the importance of self responsibility to the point of no return.

 

He argued that the race wars that so many predicted wouldn't be a civil war. That it would be a war that divided the country using politics and political correctness. And a few other variables.

 

I'd say he was crazy and hippies are retards. I'd go back today in that conversation and tell him he was spot on and I'm the retard.

backstory

I took several black studies courses in college. Hell I was close to a minor in it. It is extremely complex in my opinion as there is definitely valid points to be made and without question it is used at the same time as a shield and a crutch.

 

The matriculation issue is somewhat circular as schools want diversity and to accomplish that they admit a certain % of diverse students under a different set of standards than the rest of the class. (Not necessary black, could be inner city kids or any other diverse subset) By that nature some are already behind their class peers academically, so when the outcomes of matriculation rates surface it isn't illogical. Nor is it racist.

 

The solution is indeed to increase resources especially early on that help those students deal and thrive with the academic rigor of college. You pretty much define how your academics go by the first year or two in college. And plenty of kids who thrived in lessor high schools that didn't prepare them well enough struggle early in college. You have the double whammy of having the learn what you didn't in HS while putting it in practice in college courses.

 

So it isn't college structural racism. It's actually the opposite. Schools went out of there way to pave opportunity. And with that opportunity has the laws of unintended consequences that must additionally be dealt with. In that respect I agree with the BLM point as it applies to more than just black students and schools should be in the business of helping their students thrive.

So many people about millenials, while at the same time parents were extremely lax in the dicipline department (i dont mean they didnt dole out enough corporal punishment). Plus it is a generation that was raised by the tv and computer more than anyone else. You see kids on their phones all the time. Whose fault is that? Parents bltch about their 12 year old being on a phone too much, tell them to put it down! Youre the damn parent.

 

My wife and i will not let our 5 month old daughter watch tv, except the wife lets her watch football with me, and we do not show her vids on our phone to pacify her. I have a buddy who said his daughter gets cranky if she doesnt watch her vids.... i dont want to create that habit if i can avoid it.
