Not picking nits. Just trivia. He was credited as Nicholas Coppola for this movie. The only time in his career that was used. He used Cage from that point on.

The soundtrack wasn't great, but some of the music played during the movie was top notch

'

"We Got The Beat" by The Go-Gos
"Somebody's Baby" by Jackson Browne
"Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin
'American Girl" by Tom Petty
"Moving in Stereo" by the Cars

Yes, this movie had it all, music, comedy, sex, etc.

Supposedly, he was an insufferable doosh during filming (saying that he was going to break it big first because of his uncle) that the other cast members made fun of him using Robert Duvall lines from Apocalypse Now

There is another Rock and Roll HOF member in the movie as well. I think she is credited as "Hot Girl in Car"

Are you answering a question that has already been answered (incorrectly, I might add)?

I can't think of a single role that Sean Penn ever did that I liked. Including Spicoli. Hell, Keano did a better job of that role in Bill and Ted.

This is the movie that made acting like a retard cool. I never understood why so many people that went to HS in the 80s were douche bags, then I watched this movie.

Shouldn't you appreciate anything that makes acting like a retard seem cool? Or are you not acting?

Actual high school in the 80's was not really like that movie. Yes, there were abortions, keg parties, stoners, jocks, and redecks. And yes some of us managed to get laid, sent to the principal's office or land a job at the mall.

But I never saw anyone:

falling out of a smoke filled van before class.

calling their teacher a d!ck.

ordering a pizza to be delivered in class.

giving bj lessons at lunch

stopping armed robbers with coffee

We may have wanted it to be like that, but it really wasn't even close.

No one is going to have the exact same experiences in high school, but I thought the film was pretty accurate. I never saw stoners fall out of a van, but we did have a bunch of known stoners just like in the movie, and they had their place they hung out on campus. I thought the movie in particular captured the tone of going to high school in that time - Stacy and her desire to have a BF at all cost, etc.....The movie was based on the experiences of Cameron Crowe going undercover at a high school for a year. I have no reason to doubt he saw some of that stuff, if not exactly as in the movie, in spirit.

I can honestly say I saw most of the things on that list or pretty Damm close. Not sure about the bj thing but I'm pretty sure some girls discussed it in my hs cafeteria. We graduated close to 800a year. High school was crazy for me and my friends, much more so than college. Never saw the coffee thing

Did you just low-key brag that you got laid in high school?
