It is however relevant if the politics played a role in the motive or who was targeted, such as the recent assassination of a Democrat politician by a Republican. It is odd in this case that the suspect is dead and they haven’t even released a name yet. I know “WhY iSn’T tHe NeWs ShOwInG hIS pIcTuRe?!?!” is also a common refrain in here when the shooter is black.

So Mamdami was on Meet the Press this morning, and seemed quite reasonable. But he ended on a sour note for me when he refused to condemn the phrase “global intifada.” His argument was that, while it was a phrase he doesn’t like, it’s not his job to condemn speech. This is disingenuous. I truly doubt that if Mamdami was confronted with a bigot using the “N” word he would have any trouble condemning it. And this is where leftists fall apart: all too many of them lack moral clarity. What is wrong with saying “Look, I am deeply sympathetic to the Palestinian cause, and strongly critical of Israel, but violence and intifada are not reasonable alternatives. I reject intifada, global or otherwise, and condemn it. I want peaceful just solutions.” ??? That seems easy enough, right? But this guy can’t say that, I guess for fear of upsetting somebody? And that’s sad. But don’t pretend this is about protecting speech. Because that’s bullsh!t.

Every time a mass shooting happens, some of the people around here feel a compulsion to stick the shooter on the other political team before any evidence comes in. With that in mind, since this part of Idaho has the right, the further right, and almost no liberals, I think fringe right wing lunatic is where this one will fall. Hopefully I'm wrong and its one of the two Biden voters in that county.

Most Americans have no idea this bill is about to be passed. The ones that do hate it in large numbers. Between this and the tarrifs Republicans are going to get blown out next year.

That was then and this is now. It won't win out in the end if Trump is able to end Democracy in this country as we know it, and that keeps looking more and more likely to me. After the SCOTUS ruling this week, Trump looks like he is planning to end birthright citizenship and once people born here are deported to some foreign country they have never seen and have no connection to, there is no reason to believe he will stop there...and who knows what group will be the next targets.

For every two steps backwards, we soon take 4 steps forward. For many of you reading this, your parents railed against gay marriage (or maybe you did.) Some of your grandparents argued against racial equality, and your great-grandparents were against immigrants from Ireland, Italy and China. As I write this I am very confident that your grandchildren, in turn, will be accepting of transgender changes among teenagers and treating all trans people with respect; they will not view it as a mental illness. Further your grandkids will be much more tolerant of undocumented immigrants and globalism in general. We move ever forward.

I have never asserted that the domestic abuse "definitely didn't happen" (I have no opinion on the matter, maybe it did, maybe it didn't) but I do know that charges were never filed.
