Harrison Butker releases a statement responding to the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Medical experts acknowledge that there are an astounding number of mental health comorbidities associated with trans people. You of course think that this is because some people are mean to them sometimes, but the experts don't say that. Also, if your brain thinks you are a different sex than your body, that is a mental health issue. We as a society merely have decided not to call it that, because it has negative connotations. -

I was addressing him. You responded. I simply disagreed with your statement that the soldiers could not have conceived of trans- they could have if they had bothered because of its prevalence in the Western Europe of the 1920s. Of course I agree that the vast majority wouldn’t have bothered. And you and I agree on the rest of it. -

I think there was a principle involved, the principle that Eisenhower tried to explain when he addressed the soldiers before the invasion. Of course Ike didn’t mention the freedom to be trans, nor was he thinking about it, nor were the men thinking about it. My point is that the principle Ike DID mention, the right of all men to be free, encapsulates freedoms that we don’t think much about. So when an idiot like @Hardcore troubadour asserts that these men would have turned around, he is insulting their memory and attacking the United States which sent them there. -

Yeah. The guys storming the beaches were doing it because the Nazis crushed the trans movement. And the soldiers knew this. They saw it on the internet. -

Thats not true. The whole trans movement that conservatives are so disgusted by was prominent in both Germany and France in the 1920s, before fascists crushed it. By liberating these countries from the Nazis, our soldiers were recreating the conditions for freedom, even freedom to do stuff you might not like very much, so long as it doesn’t harm others. The principle hasn’t changed. -
For him refusing to use preferred pronouns of trans identified students. A boy is a boy and a girl is a girl. The Judge needs more education of this issue. Shame on you Judge. Probably a rainbow people. Amen Thanks.

What Trump may or may not do if he is elected is a hypothetical which has nothing with the subject matter of this thread. This is nothing but a deflection on your part. Again start a Kamala and Jan 6 thread if you want to discuss that (and the mods will probably let you considering all the trans threads they allow here).

Despite my opposition to trans competing in women's sports, the 50-100 instances of it doesn't really equate to medical reproductive issues of most oqomwn of the country, no matter how loudly the right tries to make it. Just my opinion, agree to disagree, yada yada yada* I'm not going to spend the day arguing about this. -
I get that your attitude is genuine and millions of people share it. But it’s not helping you. NAFTA was cynically replaced with a trade deal with Mexico that was virtually identical. Stopping the Trans Pacific Partnership really hurt our economy. This anti-trade stuff is a feel good for Americans who bemoan the loss of traditional manufacturing. But that’s an inevitable thing, there’s no way to stop it. The trade deals, and free trade in general, bring us far more prosperity than we lose. So does open immigration. Hopefully the majority of Americans will someday perceive this before we suffer too much.

Vance changed his mind on Trump because Trump wasn't just talk and did what he promised to do with trade policy. His life experience isn't much different than mine and this change of perspective on Trump is what happened to me at the same time it happened to him. Trump was more authentic than the glitzy 80s NY real estate developer with the string of ex-model wives. That clip of Trump on Oprah from the 80s looking out for domestic manufacturing is the exact same thing he implemented when he took office. People were fed up. NAFTA and the trans-Pacific trade deal were scrapped. Trump has changed the Republican Party for the better, more focused on the needs of everyday ordinary blue collar people, which separates him from the corporate pawn Bushtards, Cheneys, Romney, and Ryan faction has to sit in the back seat or -in the case of these four- not attend the convention at all. You don't see it ... but oh well. Many of us have and do. Trump's message resonates with a lot of people and while Trump has baggage piled onto him, Vance will be able to articulate it better come 2028 onward. Patriotic blue collar working class grievance is Vance's native language and you don't speak it.

This is a nonsensical sentence, but I'll try and interpret it. I think what you're trying to say is that a teacher is only allowed to keep information from the parent if it relates to being trans. If so, no, that's not the case. If a parent sees a boy wearing a dress, they don't have to tell the parents. If a teacher sees a girl kissing another girl, they don't have to tell the parents. If a kid tells a teacher they are gay, teacher doesn't have to tell parent. But for some reason kid asks teacher to call them "them" instead of "him", then the school requires the teacher to tell the parent. Odd isn't it? Why only that? So the law changes that to give the teacher discretion to tell the parent, just like anything else, just like it was before. -

Ok, so just so we're clear, if a kid tells a teacher that if their parent will be angry with them... the teacher can ONLY without that information, if it relates to them being trans? Gotta love it when people are acting as if discretion should only be held by the government over it's constituency, but the other side are the fascists. -

How can it be an “absolutist cult” if I am relying on medical experts? And I know, you say I’m relying on American experts who are influenced by woke and that British experts disagree; we’ve been through all that. But the fact remains that I am still trusting the scientists here the way I would a car mechanic or an airline pilot. It’s not some religious guru telling me that trans is not a mental illness. So it isn’t a cult. -

Anecdotally, the one trans kid I knew fairly well (friend of my daughter) was a boy who lived in a focked up, abusive home. I thought he was crying out for help, but it wasn't my place to say. I learned that a year or two after I last saw him that he went back to being a boy. I don't know if his family life improved. I have a hard time believing that he is the only one. As to your statement specifically, Tim's link showed the correlation. That's how we got here. -

You’re the second person to write this and it’s just ignorant. The facts completely contradict you. I already provided stats from the National Health Institute. Here are more: https://galop.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Galop-LGBT-Experiences-of-Abuse-from-Family-Members.pdf The fact is that social conservatives have so stigmatized the LGBT and trans that it creates abuse in these situations that wouldn’t exist without the sort of intolerance and bigotry prevalent in this forum. -

Yes. Really. You think that a parent is going to up and start being abusive because their kid is trans? That is not how the world works. Abusive people do not just randomly start being abusive. They have a pattern and have always shown signs of being abusive. Likely abused themselves. To think anything else is just dumb and not what patterns of abuse show. -
This isn't really ________ v. Trump. This is Trump Adoration v. Trump Hate against the backdrop of traditional Democratic and Republican values and ideas. Sure, both sides are hyper charged by their Project 2025 and "OmG ThE TrANs!!!!" whining....but this is still about traditional values. I don't think the D's are at the point where they don't think Biden can win. I think they're at the point where they're looking to see if there's an easier path to victory with another candidate. To that, there probably is. I don't think there's a ardent Biden supporter who will NOT vote in this election if Biden is replaced...because it is about Trump. A late move swerve does several things tactically: It will have wasted some of Trump's time and money on Biden; he'll have to redirect his attack platform on the fly a bit; while the Democrats won't. Trump is still Trump while Shapiro or Moore or Kelly are not Biden. It gives them the "too old to hold" card now; unless they nominate Bernie Sanders. It's a bit of an overrrated card...but people still care. It might improve the standing with a particular state or demographic at the voting booths. The Shark move is for Biden to back out himself and allow someone else to take his place.

MALE STUDENT REPORTEDLY DOMINATING GIRLS SPORTS AT SAN FRANCISCO HIGH SCHOOL
seafoam1 posted a topic in The Geek Club
It's not happening.... The San Francisco Waldorf high school girls basketball team is riding a five-game win streak — thanks in large part to star player and captain Henry Hanlon. In the team’s 54-22 win over Jewish Community on Thursday, Hanlon scored a game-high 24 points. That makes four consecutive games in which Hanlon accounted for at least a third of Waldorf’s points. Impressive. But there’s one problem: According to Reduxx and ICONS, Hanlon — who has played on girls’ teams for the past three years — is male. San Francisco Waldorf Dominating Thanks To Trans-Identifying Player Hanlon, a junior, is a three-sport athlete, competing in girls basketball, volleyball and soccer. And last season, Hanlon led San Francisco Waldorf to a CIF North Coast Championship in volleyball. On the basketball court, Hanlon currently ranks 4th in California’s North Coast Section with 20.8 points per game. Julie Lane, a representative of the advocacy group Women Are Real, visited Waldorf to watch a game in person. Lane said Hanlon towered over the girls on both teams. “The boy had an obvious advantage,” Lane said. “[The girls] didn’t necessarily run their offense through him, probably because they didn’t want to be targeted. But he got most rebounds and was able to jump much higher than the girls.” Lane went on to say that the girls Hanlon faced “were at a complete disadvantage.” One team reportedly forfeited a game against Waldorf earlier this month because of the trans-identifying student. Averroes — a college preparatory Islamic high school — did not want its female athletes to play a contact sport against a male or be forced to share locker room facilities with him, sources told Reduxx and Breitbart. https://www.outkick.com/san-francisco-waldorf-henry-hanlon-basketball/
