He was the most infamous of the welching commissioners running leagues that kept all of the entrance fees.

I had a similar situation around the same time frame. Joined a fantasy football league with Geeks, managed the team all year, won the league, and received a check in the mail with my entrance fee. And never got another dime. Never got an explanation.

I didn't make a stink about it at the time, otherwise we may have had more people not remembered so fondly.
