I've had so many jobs in my life, I would say 80% of them have taken an hour on the button to get there.

I leave my house at 7:15, I get to the train at 7:20, I get on the train at 7:25, I walk to the subway, I get on the subway at 8:05, I walk from there and get to work at 8:10

I use a car for 5 minutes, it's about 1.5 miles, little too far to walk. and PT the rest.

About 90 minutes on a shitty public transportation system. One bus and two subways. Starting from one side of Philadelphia and traveling halfway across.

I am debating driving in order to cut my commute down to 20 minutes and decrease my stress. Unfortunately, parking downtown is expensive.

How are you going to throw people under buses if you're driving? I guess you can just run them over, but that lacks the charm of a good trampling by a bus.

This is a factor in my decision making process.

Can't drive to the subway?

I would have to drive in a bit of a different direction, whereas a direct drive would be taking an expressway early in the morning. Then either pay for parking, or park in a somewhat high crime rate neighborhood, although I drive a used car. But the drive to the subway wouldn't save me all that much time. So it's all or nothing.

I have given all possibilities much thought, and I figured out that I hate thinking about it.

15 minute walk, 5 minute drive. I usually (~90% of the time) walk, and I actually like to leave my car at the garage at work since it is covered as opposed to out in the street, under the sun.

Idea for the poll came from a Newsweek article on "supercommuters" that spend over 90 mins on the commute to work (one way!). I, for one, could never do that. I'd go insane sitting in a car 3 hours a day.

30 miles. One way. 45 to an Hour.

I wish I could vanpool or something but I can't find anything that is close. We don't have public transaportation in Houston other than if you are working downtown.

Scooter needs a drive belt, so I walk.

It's actually right about the same time because you can take shortcuts walking.

Its about 8-10 miles...takes about 15 minutes depending on traffic. Drive myself most days because I have to meet during the day at times at our other office (which is only 2 miles from my house).

No we are a country that likes living in some space. I need a yard. To afford a yard, I need to live 45 miles from my job. It used to be 25, but I got a better job.

I pretty much nail my wife and walk down the stairs to my office. 30 seconds or less usually (yes, including the nailing). :ninja:

Oh the beauties of a a telecommuting life

it takes me an hour to get to work after nailing your wife (not including the nailing)

I prefer not to swin the Hudson every morning and afternoon.

Tried it for a week...You have no idea how many pairs of swimmies I went through.

1.4 mi. 15-20 min. walk, or 15 min. door to door bus trip. I never want to go back to a long commute, this is so much more enjoyable.

Nice round numbers: 12 miles each way and it takes about 15 minutes. I'm in the suburbs a mile from the expressway and the office is another mile from my exit. I work from 7:00AM to 4:00PM, so traffic is moderate. People can travel all they want; but I retained this job closer to home rather than accept a promotion to an office with a strenuous commute.

Usually about 45 minutes in traffic to and from work. (on a weekend, the same drive takes 15 minutes).

I drive myself.

I can see my office window from my back porch...

I drive, it's about 1.5 miles and takes maybe 3 mins. If it's during the fall or spring semester at USC (Carolina), then add 2-3 more mins in the afternoon.
