G-Men (formerly Big Blue) 0 Posted June 1, 2006 Honorable mention, but not a bad song: "You got Lucky"
Strike 3,999 Posted June 1, 2006 I don't know what songs are on that album but Petty is my all time favorite performer. Ironically, about the only song of his I don't like is one of his most successful - "don't come around here no more". If I never hear that song again it will be too soon. Other than that there isn't much of his I don't like.
G-Men (formerly Big Blue) 0 Posted June 1, 2006 Here are the tracks on the album. How can you not like Don't Come Around Here No More? I felt the same way about Into the Great Wide Open, but it grows on you. 1. An American Girl - 2. Breakdown - 3. Listen to Her Heart - 4. I Need to Know - 5. Refugee - 6. Don't Do Me Like That - 7. Even the Losers - 8. Here Comes My Girl - 9. The Waiting - 10. You Got Lucky - 11. Don't Come Around Here No More - 12. I Won't Back Down - 13. Runnin' Down a Dream - 14. Free Fallin' - 15. Learning to Fly - 16. Into the Great Wide Open - 17. Mary Jane's Last Dance - 18. Something in the Air -

Apu Nahasapeemapetilon 0 Posted June 1, 2006 Tom Petty is a rock and roller, john mellencamp is a focking queer. Queer? Mellencamp has been married to some of the most beautiful women out there. Petty, I'm not so sure of? Both are very good performers. The only problem I have with Petty's greatest hits is that there are about 5 tracks that sound so similar. But they are still good tunes. Mellencamp had way less hits, but I think his music has a little more soul to it.

Jack and Diane, Check It Out, Ain't Even Done With The Night.......Hell, it can be argued that he has as many great songs as Petty.

D'ohmer Simpson 0 Posted June 1, 2006 I Need to Know - Something in the Air - These are the only two I can't play in my head, so perhaps these two. I was never really into TP, I liked some of his stuff, but wasn't a big fan or anything. Then I saw him at the Spectrum and really got into his stuff more. shovelheadt 62 Posted June 1, 2006 chili peppers new single = Mary Jane's Last Dance unoriginal bastards. Yep, they also remade Higher Ground which was a Stevie Wonder song. I've had a problem with American Girl since watching the fat girl sing it in Silence of the Lambs.

He is so comfortable on stage, unlike a lot of rock stars who can only stand up there in front of a mic singing. He moves around the stage, gets the crowd involved, and genuinely gets into the whole art of performing and putting on a great show. His concerts kick ass. His live performance of "Breakdown" is legendary.
parrot 789 Posted June 1, 2006 Excellent disc. It's been in constant rotation in my truck for probably two years running. Like Strike says, excellent live performer too.

Artist Formerly Known as Big O 0 Posted June 1, 2006 You got Lucky is my all time favorite Petty song. The Mad Max-esque video was great back in the day. This disc is one of the few in my wife's collection I actually like.

GobbleDog 822 Posted June 1, 2006 "You got Lucky" This song is one of, if not, the very first music video I ever saw when I was about 12 y.o. or so. (Out in the desert, barn full of instruments, drive off in egg shaped cars)
