wiffleball 4,788 Posted June 6, 2022 Pussies. A bunch of Polish teenage conscripts who didn't want to fight in the first place. And not a single Nazi plane in the air. Jesus, five guys with baseball bats and a pontoon boat could have taken that beach. Also so not really. Can you imagine the number of f****** panic phone calls to lawyers as this generation crossed the channel trying to get the f*** out of the invasion before they hit the beach? I just can't imagine coming up in later waves and just seeing the amount of dead as you approach the beach and ready yourself to exit the boat to join... I can't imagine how many people though that they were going to be dying very soon...

When I was a kid, I asked him if he'd ever killed anybody during the war, and he said, "I hope not." A true bomber's mentality. A few years ago, we were out to dinner as a family and having a good old time. We'd had some wine, and out of nowhere my dad turned to me and said, "One of these days I'll tell you what I REALLY did during the war." He turned around and went back to his dinner, and I sat there like for about 6 hours. He still hasn't ever told me. @Pimpadeaux did your dad tell you before he passed? MDC 7,121 Posted June 6, 2022 On June 6, 1944, the Allied forced stormed the beaches at Normandy to liberate Europe from Nazi rule. Exactly 77 years later, costumed MAGAtards stormed the Capitol to liberate Americans from their own President. Sad.

RLLD 4,143 Posted June 7, 2022 On June 6, 1944, the Allied forced stormed the beaches at Normandy to liberate Europe from Nazi rule. About 70 years later Democrats, infected by leftist radicals, seek to strip the basic rights of all people and destroy the nation. Our freedom is never more than a generation away from being destroyed, this might be that generation.

These are two nations that tried to destroy our and other free nations ways of life not too long ago. We are now partners. We exchange goods. We travel freely in these countries and they in ours. We work for and with their businesses and they ours. We have agreed to defend each other. On and on. It’s astonishing and something that should be admired and the world is undoubtably in a much better place for this. This could not have occurred with the graciousness and goodwill we displayed. Patented Phil 1,469 Posted June 6, 2023 Thanks for creating this thread. I saw a great documentary on Sunday about D-Day. The scale of that invasion is almost unimaginable. Lots went wrong too. The transport boats were released too far from shore and almost all of them took on water and sank. Imagine having to swim 50 yards to shore while wearing 25-40 pounds of equipment - keeping your rifle above water and hearing bullets wiz past your head. Brutal. My Uncle was one of those guys. He never talked about it.

He never talked about this and one of my earliest memories of him was him getting angry that someone was watching MASH. He told me he was upset by the laugh track IIRC and didn’t want it on the TV and wanted no part of war as entertainment.

Most Japanese including the women would rather jump off a cliff with their children in their arms then surrender to the americans. They viewed their Emperor as a literal god. Who allowed Millions to die before finally sucking it up.we had to Nuke them out of existence. Do you think theyd be such strong allies if we didn't do that? We firebombed the hell out of germany. Not to mention what we did to other countries like italy. Do you think they suddenly became our allies because they realized that we had barbecue and Country music? If Germany had prevailed in Europe do you think they suddenly would have switched sides realizing that we have barbecue and Country music?
