Sho Nuff 720 Posted April 9, 2007 He didn't have to mention it, he made a conscious decision to let the world know his faith was involved with his win. He is obviously a very religious person. And I personlly think that those that are religious zealots. And a bunch of brainwashed loonies that I have no desire to hear from/associate with. Fine...that is your right to believe such. And it is my right to mock you for such a belief.

KSB2424 3,153 Posted April 9, 2007 Who cares? I don't care what God or anything else people believe in, and I am surely not going to ridicule them for their beliefs. If believing in a stuffed animal makes him a better person, then I am all for it. To each his own, it was not "thrown in your face". He didn't go on and on about it like he was giving a sermon. Saturday Night Beaver 2 Posted April 9, 2007 whenever someone thanks God/Jesus, it always make me thing of comedian Jeff Stilson. He goes on about how athletes praise God for their victory. "I want to thank God, for giving me the abiltiy to bash my oppenents skull in." He then says, I would like to see somebody blame Jesus. "we would have won the game, but Jesus made me fumble. He hates our team." funny stuff

Bert 1,128 Posted April 9, 2007 Since Zack is so religious shouldn't he have been in church on one of the holiest days of the year instead of screwing around on the golf course?

He and like most jesus lovers are what I like to call "convenient catholics" They go to church when someone dies and when someone gets married and they pray for something when someone is ill or they need a miracle. Basically, they USE the lord and give him nothing.

Sho Nuff 720 Posted April 9, 2007 most people go to church on sunday morning. maybe he went before his tee time. Or he went to an Easter Vigil Service the night before. He and like most jesus lovers are what I like to call "convenient catholics" They go to church when someone dies and when someone gets married and they pray for something when someone is ill or they need a miracle. Basically, they USE the lord and give him nothing. He is? Because you know when he does and does not attend services right? Is he Catholic? Im really not sure. However, you don't know if he went to an evening mass the night before or what. So to claim he, or anyone else you actually have no clue about, only USE the Lord and give him nothing is like most of your comments...completely foolish and ignorant. I didn't mean to say I did, i was speakin for those that do live this way and there are A LOT of them, I am Catholic. Attend mass nearly every Sunday at our Church. Was out of town this weekend but attended service and Sunday School at my In-laws Presbyterian Church. Yes, there are some that live that way. To each his own. Who am I to judge the beliefs of others. Perhaps they are not the best Catholics in your eyes or don't attend service all the time. Im not going to question the relationship they have with God though. That is up to them.

Fumbleweed 554 Posted April 9, 2007 I'm not whining that he believes in focking jebsus. I just don't focking need to hear about his focking beliefs. It WASN"T your moment. It wasn't about YOU. That's just a very selfish way to approach anything. Again, if he had thanked his gay lover's dog, I might have thought it to be a bit odd, but I wouldn't be offended.....in the least. He didn't have to mention it, he made a conscious decision to let the world know his faith was involved with his win. He is obviously a very religious person. And I personlly think that those that are religious zealots. And a bunch of brainwashed loonies that I have no desire to hear from/associate with. That's unfortunate because I wouldn't have any problem associating with you. I understand your aversion to someone who applies pressure to you, but Zach Johnson's comments didn't apply pressure to anyone to do anything. His comments were completely un-intrusive. And, I'm not sure about the conscious decision part, either, for what it's worth. The guy was half-delirious.
lennie75 0 Posted April 9, 2007 I'm not whining that he believes in focking jebsus. I just don't focking need to hear about his focking beliefs. Sounds similar to the way most people think of you. You are the worst kind of idiot. The one who thinks he is so good and so inteligent that he doesn't have to hear anyone else's view point!! 99% of TV shows are made up of differing view points. Yet you choose this one subject where you want to live in a vacuum. Hmmmm.....I smell some self doubt...or is it guilt...or maybe just a splash of low self-esteem...actually I think you are jealous because you are alone and unimportant in the world...and you can't deal w/ it!!!! I think it all goes back to your bad relationship with your family that you can't seem to talk about!!!!

And, I'm not sure about the conscious decision part, either, for what it's worth. The guy was half-delirious. I don't think you've ever gone out of your way to 'promote' your faith. You field questions and give your opinion when asked and interject when the topic comes around, which everyone here appreciates. You always keep your decorum no matter which way other push or prod. I've never had qulams with you or your beliefs. I agree that Zach's comments did not pressure. However when he (or others in his situation) says them I can't help but toss him into the 'religious' bucket before the 'good golfer', 'devoted family man' or 'good person' buckets. I can't help it - it's kind of a sore spot I guess. Some people hear religion and think "peace, helping fellow man, guidance, everlasting life, divine power, a presence to lean on in hard times, an explanation for life's mysteries.". I think "rules, regs, fairy tales, lies, manipulation, cults, money, power, brainwashing.". I understand that the first list exists to some people, but my brain always defaults to the second.
