Yer mom 2 Posted June 5, 2008 No mystery where im going, but ill say in 5. The best ticket in sports (not the big ticket, ladies) is gonna make Boston look silly, cant wait to get underway tonight!
patweisers44 821 Posted June 5, 2008 Lakers in 6. If i didnt believe in NBA conspiracy theories i would have said 5.
Strike 5,291 Posted June 5, 2008 I'm going Lakers in 6. However, if Boston can get back to playing the way they were earlier in the season they could have a chance. If they play like they played against Atlanta Lakers will win in 5 max.

edjr 6,578 Posted June 5, 2008 For anyone to bring up Kobe's rape allegations is just focking foolish. Why do fans stoop to these ridiculous levels? That kind of jealousy and insecurity is not healthy. I can see it on a messageboard, because people often say things just to get a reaction. To chant this stuff at a game, to say it on a radio, to hold a sign? focking weak.

The Moz 69 Posted June 5, 2008 Key for Boston is Ray Allen being a scorer and making Kobe have to gaurd him instead of Rondo. Fisher will be on Allen to start and if he can contain him KObe will have to causing him to waste energy. Allen cannot gaurd Kobe one - one so Pierce likely ends up gaurding him in crunch time - Allen or Rondo might the first half to let Pierce rest. Garnett gasol will be interesting -- If Garnett becomes a shooter then Odom takes him - I he goes inside I think Gasol does. Maybe a bigger key for the Lakers than stiopping garnet is blockikng out on Perkins inside. If I was jackson -- I would put Kobe on Rondo regardless the entire first half and let Fisher and or Sasha gaurd Allen -- Put Odom on Garnett unless he shows he is going strong mostly --- Put YIKES Radmonovich on Pierce until he starts scoring then you have to switch Odom and Gasol and put Odom on Pierce. Starting line up Boston has a great edge other than LA having Kobe who is un gauradble by anyone when he wants to be. LA though has a great bench and they RUN when they are in to tire out the other team - setting LA to make those late runs in the 2nd half and 4th qaurter. Keys Boston - Allen must hit his 3s at 40 - 50% - KG needs to go strong and force gasol to gaurd him and get fouls or abuse Odom - Pierce needs to be aggressive! - Their Bigs need to take advantage of LA's undersized front line and reboud with at least a 10 advantage - Rondo needs to be able to hit his floater consitently to keep Kobe honest Keys LA - Kobe just do what Kobe does - Need to hit the open 3's when Kobe kicks out - Bench needs to score so they can stay out there as long as they can - Gasol needs to be be more physical gaurding KG in crunch time - Odom/Gasol need the BLOCK out ( Perkins ) after the Boston shoots. Game 1 - LA 101 - 96 Game 2 - Bos 92 - 85 Game 3 - LA 110 - 92 Game 4 - Bos 100 - 95 Game 5 - LA 98 - 96 Game 6 - LA 102 - 90 LA in 6 winning on Bostons court. mighty_thor 115 Posted June 5, 2008 I'm going Lakers in 6. However, if Boston can get back to playing the way they were earlier in the season they could have a chance. If they play like they played against Atlanta (on the road) Lakers will win in 5 max. They beat Atlanta by an average of over 25 points a game at home. Strike 5,291 Posted June 5, 2008 They beat Atlanta by an average of over 25 points a game at home. Yeah. For some reason I thought the Hawks had at least one close one at the garden but they didn't. I don't know if that reflects more on the Celtics or the Hawks though. In any case, doesn't change the sentiment. I expect the Lakers to win at least one of the first two games so if Boston is as inept on the road against the Lakers as they were against the Hawks it'll go no more than 5. adam smitty 0 Posted June 5, 2008 I've got LA in 7. I think both teams will steal at least one road game, Boston has to have its big 3 play well in every game or they won't last long.

Day Old Doughnut 0 Posted June 6, 2008 Curious what Chronic Husker has to say now. He said the Lakers would sweep and Denver was better than Boston. Hmmm, I guess he'll finally realize the Celtics aren't that bad of a team. I still say Lakers in 7, but Boston ain't goin down without a fight.

IGotWorms 4,057 Posted June 6, 2008 I wasn't able to watch the game tonight, but I see that Kobe had a pretty crappy performance (shooting-wise, anyway). Who was guarding him? Was it the Celtics D that kept Kobe in check, or was he just having an off night? TIA.

Pierce played him late but it was mostly allen at the beginning. Pierce got in early foul trouble so they didn't put him back on kobe until late.
Day Old Doughnut 0 Posted June 6, 2008 I still say Lakers in 6, great game by Bostons tonight, but, it's one game. To say "it's just one game" is being pretty naive. The way Boston played tonight gave them a ton of confidence. I never understand why someone would say "it's one game" in the NBA finals. Each game is important. Boston made a lot of people realize tonight they are better than what many think. They were the class of the East this year and was pretty much the only team in the East that stood a chance of competing with the West. Detroit, Orlando, Cleveland, etc were all lower tier teams compared to the Celtics and especially compared to the West.
mighty_thor 115 Posted June 6, 2008 Did anyone else here the crowd chanting "no means no" when kobe was shooting free throws?

They need to win in LA where the Lakers are undefeated, and I'm not so sure they can do that. The Lakers need to win in Boston and they've won on the home court of every team they've played in the playoffs. Winning game one at home by not a huge amount wouldn't make me comfortable if I was a Boston fan.
