It's an EXCITING Time to be a Dallas Fan!

Recommended Posts

got a link where you predicted the 8-3 start? I dont recall anyone including most dallas fans claiming an 8-3 start. Even if dallas wins the division or if they get a wild which one will happen ......................this team will be judged on post season performance. The seem to be making strides and peaking late this year......who knows................surely becoming a team to watch and fear.

Something to ponder for the romo detracters.....................Tony Romo is playing mistake free football now.......he is throwing 1-2 Tds a game with no ints and throwing timely accurate passes.

I saw romo finally shuts up his haters this year....

I called this, 6 weeks ago. Cowboys 8-3 after turkey day, wheels fall off during the next 5 weeks. Get ready Cowboy fans, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

as i recall, you predicted 7-4 after thanksgiving, not 8-3.

New year, new alias, same mind-numbing bullsh!t. Luckily he'll disappear soon after the Cowboys fade out of contention. He might welch on a few bets along the way, but he's usually gone some time around the Superbowl.

He'll crawl back under his rock and keep himself occupied with Hannah Montana reruns and a bottle of lubiderm.

indeed I did, but also had the Cowboys slated for a loss to the Iggles, which they didn't get. I then said that 8-3 was an easy run at that point. I also predicted that the team would finish 8-8, 9-7 at very best. Since I said they'll go 1-4 down the stretch it's still within reason. However, with the Giants faltering and the Eagles bi-polar, well, it's looking like I might end up very off.

As a Cowboys' fan - I'm still worried a bit. Not that I don't have faith in our Boys - but we still have some holes. And mostly, we have a BRUTAL month of Dec. on the schedule. It's a bit unfair Romo is going to be judged on what he does this particular month of Dec. - just a killer. But, he has 21 other guys starting on both sides of the ball who can help him and this team win. I think we are up for the challenge - we will see. But great showing today, but by no means ready to say all is okay again.

I don't see the Cowboys doing their annual choke job. I think Romo finally gets it, I think the coaches finally get it, and I think most Cowboy fans get it as well.

Although they're a good team, they aren't favorites to win the SB. I think this alleviates alot of the stress and takes the pressure off a great deal.

You're right though, December is going to be the defining point for this team. IMO, it all boils down to them establishing the running game early on in games, which will let Romo perform well in play action.

However, I don't feel they have a championship defense. Then again, I don't think anyone in the NFC has one.

Should be an interesting stretch run.

Right now dallas is a top 4 team in the NFL.

Dallas could beat the saints..

Dallas is going to be in the NFC championship against the Vikings and Brett Farves clock is going to strike midnight.

They said Tony couldn't win without TO-He's done that

They said Tony couldn't be a leader this year- He's done that

They said Tony couldn't win if they shut down Jason Witten-He's done that

They said that Tony isn't dedicated to winning-He shown dedication

They said that Tony couldn't lower his turnover rate- He's done that

Bottom line Romo has proven critics wrong this year and will do it this month.

Err ... no. Dallas is probably toward the bottom of the Top 10 right now. The Cowboys most impressive win this year was against a wildly overrated Falcons team that has no defense and probably won't make the playoffs. Their only other win over a team with a winning record was against Philly. They might be better than the Eagles but struggling to an ugly, 20-16 win against a bubble playoff team that played a D game isn't saying much. Otherwise, they've lost to every other decent team they've played (Giants, Broncos, Packers) and 6 of their 8 wins are against the Bucs, Chiefs, Panthers, Redskins, Seahawks and Raiders -- garbage, all of them.

Teams that are clearly better than Dallas IMO:

Vikings

Saints

Patriots

Colts

Chargers

Bengals

The Cowboys are muddled down around the Packers, Eagles, Cardinals, Giants, and a host of other bubble playoff teams.

The Cowboys remaining schedule is:

@ Giants

San Diego

@ Saints

@ Washington

Philadelphia

Dallas loses the next three, beats the Foreskins and then loses at home to the Eagles to complete yet another Tony H0mo late-season meltdown.

Book it.

I am not a dallas fan, but here is some fuel to help them fight the people who would attack them.

Just read this on a football site:

Tony Romo needs two tds on sunday against the giants to be 4th all time on the list of fewest games by a qb to get to 100 tds.

He would be ranked higher than peyton manning on that list. Pretty impressive stuff, to throw your first 100 tds in fewer games than peyton.

Cool. In the NBA Dominique Wilkins scored a lot of meaningless points too. He actually won some playoff games though.

Love to say my Boys are a top 4 team - but just isn't so. I think we can be, but we are not there yet. A top 4 team does not struggle to beat Washington at home by a point. A top 4 team does not get the crap beat out of them in Green Bay. I'd say the top 4 right now are NO, Minny, Indy, and SD. We are mixed in with the 5-10 crowd. This week will show a lot - if we are as good as I think we are - we march into NY and take care of them.

One of the overlooked (and assumed) thinkings behind Romo's postseason performances is that the Seahawks game was actually a pretty solid outing by him. Most remember one thing - that he botched & fumbled the snap on the game winning field goal attempt. Well, for one - that's still one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of - bashing and basing his postseason failures for botching a special teams play. Uh, nevermind his actual qb play that game - let's focus on that play and say he chocked as a qb.

Truth of the matter is Romo had this game in hand and was on his way to winning it w/out the need of a fg. Again, as the ignorant do not remeber or know, past mid-way of the 4th, dallas up 20-13 - Glenn fumbles and the Hawks drive for a td..........Romo gets the ball on his own 28 and drives Dallas down to the Hawks 2. Course we know what happened then - but point of all this is that his actual qb play was not only good - it was way more than enough to win.

For that game: Romo's qb rating, 89.6 / Hasselbeck's, 66.9

If memory serves me right and Dallas kicks the ball cleanly, Seattle still would have had about a minute and a half of playing time left to go back down the field, trailing by 2 points. The FG doesn't end the game, and the Seahawks only need a FG to win with plenty of time left.

True. Also true is Dallas had done a really good job of shutting down the Hawks. The fumble was a gift - or they don't score in the 4th. I like the chances of holding them with a minute and some change left. Also, even had they driven back and kicked a game winning fg - still would not change Romo's performance that day and he still would of been really solid - better than Hasselbeck.

romo also did well in the giants game in the playoffs. Romo still has a better december rating than eli. Eli has a december slump

We were pulling gusy off the street to play in our secondary. We had a bail bondsman playing in the nickle.

Well I never bashed him for the fumble but I bashed him for his failing to pick up a first down. He came up inches short but he tucked the ball in when he was tackled rather than reaching for a first down. That is what lost the game. He looked more like a punter on that play rather than a QB. It showed me his awareness and feel for the game were below average. He has done nothing to change that opinion. He is also one of the worst "time management" QBs I have ever seen. Tony has a chance to change this starting this week, let's see if he has learned anything in the last 3 1/2 years.

Romo is on track to be ranked 4th all time in the fewest games to get to 100 tds by a qb.

He needs 2 TDs sunday in NY to be ranked 4th which is ahead of Brady, and peyton manning. Whats incredible to consider is the fact that Tony could've come close to tying or BREAKING Dan Marino if not for those 3 missed games last season, and the low scoring of the packer and Skins game

Now on to the game against the Giants.

I think we will start out slow early, but we will get it going in the 2nd/3rd quarter. Cowboys win 31-13.

Stat Predictions:

Romo 301 yds, 4 TDs

F. Jones 98 total yds 1 rec TD

M. Austin 6 catches 112 yds, 2 TDs

J Witten 5 catches 80 yds 1 TD

The road to 9-3 is this sunday. I am excited right now. After that 2-2 start no one gave us respect. We have waited our entire lives for this moment. This is our time....

Heres the formula to a Cowboys win

-Romo is pissed about his last meeting the Gnats

-Romo+company will want to start of hot this december and shut everybody up

-Gnats secondary is looking awful

-Eli can't win games without a great defense, Romo can

the key to beating the Saints is limited their possessions and not getting into a gun slinging match...Piere Thomas...and reggie bush wont combine for 100 yards against us....The key factors would be can be score against, can our pass rush force Brees out the pocket and can our secondary, hold up against their 5 wide. I think it will be a classic game similar to the first giants-pats matchup a few years back. I think the saints D is overrated but I havent watched them enough to know..If Bilicheat didnt go for it every fourth down than he is playing a video game, the pats had a chance, plus tom brady was throwing with his eyes closed most of that game. The two best teams in the NFC are the vikings and the cowboys....We will meet in the NFC championship and neither Breat Favre nor Adrian Peterson have ever had much sucess against us..so Im thinking super bowl!

But yeah, good for Tony

tony had taken over a struggling team team that was completely written off earlier in the season. led them to the playoffs, and then led them on a potentially gamewinning drive in his first playoff game.

what's your point?

furthermore, when the cowboys have serious injury troubles (such as they did two years later), all the critics say "injuries are not an excuse" and still blame romo.

when the defense completely folded their tents againts the steelers and the ravens last season, you still blamed romo.

when romo leads the team to a go-ahead score with 3 min left in the 4th against the undefeated giants, and the defense gives the game away, you still blamed romo.

when the cowboys win due to a last minute comeback engineered by romo, you say "they never should have been in that position".

when the cowboys have an excellent offensive output, you say "that's due to his incredible supporting cast".

if he has a bad day, you say he sucks. if he overcomes that bad day and wins, you say he sucks. if he has a good day but teammates have a bad day, you say he sucks. if EVERYONE has a great day, you say he sucks.

this should point out a serious problem with y'alls evaluation process.

yeah...i'm sure that's the reason for all the 2min drill TDs that he has consistetly put up over the years.

he makes mistakes, just like anyone else. but after his very first season, he was talking openly about getting better with time mgmt.
