I attack no one who comes in with a valid opinion and doesn't diss the Hawks. Carry on.

As far as what i saw from the Seahawks this year, im not so sure. 7 wins max in that division isn't saying much and have lost 7 of their previous 9 by WIDE margins. But I do like a few of the pieces they have in place.

they made some dumb moves but some good ones as well.

We'll see that they get in the draft but they need a QB. Whitehurst is garbage. With how long he has been in the league there is no reason to still look like a confused rookie.

Im not as high on this QB class as alot of people seem to be but then again when your team needs a QB it can skew your opinion. However I still think Seattle can come away with a franchise option.

If Seattle loses, they pick 8th in the upcoming draft. Win, and the pick is #21 or higher.

I have a valid point, The Jets will have as much to show for their playoff run as a 7-9 Seahawks team.

well unless you count future foot fetish videos made after New York is eliminated.

Deal with the consequences in April. We don't have a 3rd rounder anyway, so we suffer the first two picks. And for some crazy reason the universe just played a huge prank and made Whitehurst look serviceable, although against a bad team.

We have another week of football to obsess over. This thread might have a bit more traffic than usual.

I guess the question now is, who should start at QB next week? I say you have to let Charlie play. If he struggles, Matt would be better to bring in off the bench as Whitehurst has clearly shown that he does not play well in that role. I think what we saw tonight against STL was Whitehurst's ceiling. Now that we are SOL for a franchise QB come April, might as well see how Whitehurst handles a real playoff game.

This is the best thing to come of this game. Start him against the Saints and give Bates the green light to SLING it. Lets go down BIG! We'll still need a youngster in the wings to develop, but being able to start Charlie buys us a couple years. Give the dude a little confidence and bravado going into to 2011 training camps.

Crazy focking season man!!

Are there even any Saint fans at this site? I'd like to throw some barbs at them, no matter how pointless it would be. Those mush mouths prefer to talk in gibberish while burning all their food beyond recognition. A team full of Waterhead boys.

Henry Chianski is, but he left this board over a year ago. Too many people told him to stop being a jerk, but he couldn't change so he left.

I heard they took a pole of Seattle and the majority would rather they have lost that game and not made the playoffs.

I think it's kind of cool that I'll be able to tell my grandkids someday that I remember a year when a 7-9 team made the playoffs. It just kind of sucks that so many better teams aren't even in the playoffs. And it REALLY sucks that Seattle gets a home game. Oh well. It's kind of funny. I was actually rooting for them last night. A much better story than a .500 team making it.

It is rather ironic though how the most communist, limp-wristed, hippie-laden city in America makes the playoffs via the socialistic route. Very ironic...

Berry:

I do think Berry is somewhat of a playmaker and could be an ok player in the NFL, but do you want an OK player at #6?

Is he going to be the best Safety in this draft? Can he help us the most? Is he worth pick #6 and money tied up at Safety that doesn't see the ball allot?

Stats Berry:

07 - 52 solo tack, 34 ast, 1 ff, 5 int's, 1 TD

08 - 44 solo tack, 28 ast, 0 ff, 7 int's, 2 TD

09 - 54 solo tack, 29 ast, 1 ff, 2 int's, 0 TD

Stats Thomas:

08 - 52 solo tack, 19 ast, 4 ff, 2 int's, 0 TD

09 - 44 solo tack, 19 ast, 1 ff, 8 int's, 2 TD

Stats T. Mays:

06 - 38 solo tack, 24 ast, 0 ff, 3 int's, 0 TD

07 - 36 solo tack, 29 ast, 1 ff, 1 int, 0 TD

08 - 38 solo tack, 15 ast, 0 ff, 0 int, 0 TD

09 - 45 solo tack, 43 ast, 0 ff, 1 int, 0 TD

Ok, so Mays doesn't really compare stat wise, but he's known for a hard hitter and showed speed at the combine. (However, I don't think he's pads fast) But, lets leave him out of this as I wouldn't want him at 14 with better options out there.

Berry and Thomas are very close stat wise though. Thomas appears to maybe even have more upside with only playing 2 seasons and going from 2 int's to 8 the next year. Both seem similar though overall stat wise and even size/weight/etc..

Berry is only a JR. which is a nice thing too.

But here's my first question: Should Berry be that much more highly ranked based off these numbers alone?

Would it be better to get Thomas at 14 if you really wanted a safety in the first round? (And go something else at 6)

Ok, now onto "my perceptions" and "some things I've read" etc.

I've heard "Berry doesn't tackle all that well and it might be his biggest weakness"?

Ok my View: He IS kinda thin and small. From what I've seen on film and watching him is he's always the 2nd or 3rd guy on the play. To me he never was the impact guy "making the big hit" and "forcing the turnover". He was rather the one that benifited from it as he was the help man. And the numbers/stats show this: Not that many Int's, Not many FF, and LOTS of ast tackles.

So is he a playmaker or not? Can he even Tackel good enough?

Coverage skills of my view: So this is where I'm also concerned though. He seemed like he was beat often or "LATE" and out of possition making him the 2nd or 3rd option on the play. This is limited basis of what I've seen/film. But, the numbers kind of support it.

Further data: He struggled in a zone/tampa 2 Def. Basically what the Hawks run (Even though I hate our zone currently)

He also played FS, and the Hawks need a SS. Can his size and ability make him a good SS in the NFL?

He looks more like a Corner. He makes plays cause he's athletic and a good returner.

But, is he going to be a GREAT "coverage saftey" and your safety is suppost to tackle good?

Now a little bit onto Thomas:

From what I've seen of him he also makes plays. (The Int's back that up) and he's good in coverage. I'm not sure of his tackeling ability, but his tackles are equal to Berry also. I saw him fly at a few tackels and looked good and forced lost yardage. He's quick and athletic and can grow even more as he only played 2 years. He had double the Int's and I saw allot of them on film. He made those happen all by himself, to where Berry's were hand gifted.

Bottom Line:

Is the 6th pick worth this possition anyway? Not like a LT who is a main cog on every Offensive snap.

Can we get Thomas at 14 and have just as good as a Safety as Berry? Probably

Is Berry just a athletic player that can make some plays here and there OR is he going to "truley" be an impact player? Average, not impact Is Berry even the right guy for Coverage/Run Support? Still not sure, and it's not worth the #6 pick

Is the money worth putting on a Safety compared to a LT, RB, QB? Still not sure, but I'm thinking no.

Is a Safety going to make an impact in the next 2 years (Which is critical for Carroll to show some signs of life) ? How about compared to LT?

Can a Safety help that much if our Corners are beat or we can't put pressure on the ball? probably not

Finally - Are there good options at pick 14 that could cover your Def Backfield just as good? Yes - Thomas, Hayden, Mayes if you want to go that route anyway.

I think Oline LT is where we should go now. (Specifically T. Williams and NOT Buluga)

But, Spiller is the impact guy that can light it up on any given play and can touch it at almost any way.

Ok - take this for what's it worth.

But, for me - Berry is probably not my choice at #6. We should be signing somebody though. Like the Rams dude.

Vernon Davis is dumb as a box of rocks:

'We really deserved that.' -- TE Vernon Davis on NFC West title

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Wrong team made the playoffs, Niners say

By David White, San Francisco Chronicle

The 49ers president Jed York said he thinks the 49ers would be in the playoffs had he made a coaching change sooner, promoting Jim Tomsula sooner. San Francisco tight end Vernon Davis said the 49ers were better than the Seahawks, who finished a game ahead of the 49ers and won the division title. That prompted a hilarious response from Ben Hamilton, the Seahawks left guard who suffered a season-ending concussion on Oct. 31. Hamilton tweeted: "I don't think that word means what you think it does, enjoy your offseason!"

Woulda, shoulda, coulda.

The Niners went 6-10 in the worst division in the history of the league. They couldnt even finish SECOND!! Instead of running his mouth, Venereal Disease should hang his head in shame. Goodell should force San Fran to swap 1st round picks with Seattle for being a team of underachieving, poosay-assed chokers and making a mockery of the NFL playoff structure. Seattle knocks them out of contention late last year, and steals the division from them this year.

It must suck for such a proud franchise to have to look up to the Seattle Seahawks.

1. Seattle Seahawks 7-9 (4-2 div)

2. St. Lous Rams 7-9 (3-3 div)

3. San Francisco 49ers 6-10 (4-2 div)

4. Arizona Cardinals 5-11 (1-5 div)

I am. I just had no reason to come into a Seahawks thread until now. Seeing the number of pages in this thread is amazing for such a sh!tty team. I had no idea there were this many Seahawks fans in one place. It's hard enough to sell out your own stadium much less ###### together here. Very unimpressive bunch we have here.

I could have gotten tickets from your website today. Decided not to since the real game will be against the Bears or Falcons and saving money from going to a sh!thole like Seatle is well worth the savings. The real teams are in the second round. The Seahawks don't even belong hosting a first round game, much less pretending they are of any importance in the real picture. Good luck. And don't forget to bring the hippie loser server from Starbucks who has no idea what football is about and thinks herpes is just another culture. I'm sure there will be many like her to keep the game interesting while the Saints destroy you.

Right. Im sure you have a real heart warming story about being introduced to Saints football bouncing from yer daddy's knee. Reminds me of all the Rams fans circa 2000.

And as far as Superbowl records go, I never questioned the team in N'Awlins. Just their fair-weather fans.
