Romney back in campaign mode after Hurricane Sandy

Recommended Posts

Romney in Florida Wednesday. No Florida win, no Presidency. He is polling +3 with Gravis; -1 with Quinnipiac; and tied with SurveyUSA.

Smart move or in bad taste?

He has no choice. This happening so close to D-Day is unfortunate for him. Obama gets to go around and look Presidential in a crisis, so he can afford not to campaign. Romney can't really get involved in the storm stuff, because it looks like politicizing it or trying to use it as a photo op. His ill timed comments about killing FEMA don't help in this regard either.

But he can't just sit on his ass six days from election day in a close race either. Seems like this has really blunted the momentum he had going.

Is it really Romney's job to sling sandbags in the NE? I agree the President has no choice but to do so, but Romney isn't the commander-in-chief and principal entitlementerer.

You even know any Mormons? Hey I think some of their religious beliefs are a little out there but they are probably The kindest people I know of with their money and their time to charitable causes outside of their own church.

Maybe Romney is - I don't know him personally and he was one of the last people I would of wanted going against Obama for POTUS. I wanted Ryan or Rubio someone that could of jump started the base and really got the GOP going again - neither ran - Instead you had a host of fock up's with Romney being basically the only won that had a chance of being elected.

I don't see the problem. Is he not allowed to campaign at all before the election? Sandy is over, granted there's a lot of cleanup and rebuilding to be done but I don't think you can expect Romney (or Obama) to just cease campaigning and let the chips fall where they may. This is a very tight race going down to the wire.

Obama doesn't need to campaign anymore at all if he keeps shaking hands with people affected by Sandy and kicks FEMA in the ass like never before to get out like they have never before he will take back florida and Virginia -- take Ohio , Colorado , and Nevada -- It won't be a popular vote landslide as I see it as maybe 53%-47% but it will be basically a EC landslide. Romney had the momentum and was starting to pull ahead -- Sandy flipped the switch on that. This won't be close!.............. unless Obama just goes brain dead.

I think a large part of the problem isn't so much that people have a problem with Romney resuming campaigning... its just that people have election fatigue. The universal sentiment I hear from EVERYONE, R's, D's, I's, and don't give a focks, is that they are ready for it to focking end already. It seems like the "election cycle" gets longer every time, and frankly, its gotten to be a bit much. I'm a bit of a political junkie, and I'm sick to death of it.

That makes people probably react more negatively than the ordinarily would perhaps, I don't know.

I think you are wildly overstating the impact of Sandy. It probably helps Obama a little, especially since every day Christie is out there saying what a hechuva job Obama is doing (is Christie trying to sabotage Romney??), but I do not think this is going to give Obama anywhere near a bump that would allow him 53% of the electoral vote. He might gain a percentage point from his current popular vote status, which seems to be about 48 or 49%.

I do think Obama will win because of the small but persistent advantage he holds in the Electoral College, but it will be close.

Obama is not campaigning? I guess since he says he isn't 500 times a day on every network, it must be true.

I agree. Hell, I'm sick of the election and I'm one of the biggest partisan hacks here! :P

So I'm not sure people will even listen to Romney at this point (or Obama, when it comes to the campaign). Still, I don't think people will begrudge him resuming his campaign

The issue is most of the damage is in already D solid states, now of a hurricane hit Iowa, it would be a different story

This is the kind of sh1t that needs to happen more often in this country. It's a shame that a disaster has to happen first...

Christie sternly cast politics aside when he praised President Obama's response to the storm and toured the damage with him Wednesday.

The day before, Christie had praised Obama's storm response as "outstanding." Obama "has done a good job in the last few days for New Jersey, and he deserves my praise, and he will get it regardless of what the calendar says," Christie said on Fox News on Tuesday.

In turn, Obama told people at a Brigantine emergency shelter: "I want to just let you know that your governor is working overtime to make sure that as soon as possible everybody can get back to normal'' and afterward praised Christie's "extraordinary leadership and partnership'' with federal disaster officials.

Romney should feel free to go ahead and campaign. The election is just around the corner and people will understand.

Meanwhile, President Obama is able to do comander-in-chief type stuff at this time. That it helps his hands-on image is likely a plus and that's the advantage of incumbancy.

Christie is a very emotional dood. One of the few politicians that honestly seems to care more about his constituents than personal political gain.

Then again, he's prolly more upset that his local dunkin doughnuts is currently 5 feet underwater.

Romtard's all butthurt because his buddy Christie hasn't invited him to NJ to tour the damage so he too can look "presidential." :music_guitarred:

Thousands are still stranded and being rescued.

Obama shows up to stroll down the beach vowing to rebuild the weekend homes of the 1%ers and for a photo op so he looks Presidential.

How many cops et al were taken away from rescuing people to provide security for Obama? Smart play.

There are Mormons in Philadelphia this morning saying they know a family with a infant kid that has the same head shape as Herman Munster, a young gal with an assh0le looser that microwaved jello, and a gargantuan woman using a towelette on the end of a mop handle to scratch her acne on her continent sized back.
