The New England Patriots- Empire of the NFL

Recommended Posts

Id agree - Everyone not living in Boston hears the empire/Darth Vader music from Star Wars whenever Bill and Tom take the field. How can you not?

Brady is almost like Anakin Skywalker too: He had very humble beginnings and was actually quite loved and people rooted for the Pats after being a worthless team for so many years. But, he got a taste of power and then Darth Sidious(Belicheat) showed him the easy path of the dark side and then Tom became successful and quite arrogant. Then, the good man who was 6th round pick Tom B. became the evil, stuck up, and twisted Darth Brady.

One thing is for sure, part of the disdain for the empire is the incredible amount of luck and cheese that has come their way through the years. Everything from Tuck rules(still the worst rule and call in sports history) to spygate, to WR mugging, to taping the other teams, and every other "whatever" they've had go their way. Hard to root for them and they are easy to hate as the Yankees if not moreso.

Speaking of Star Wars - if only someone would throw Belichick down a very tall exhaust port we'd be better off. :)

When was the last time your team made 5 Superbowls, winning three, multiple division titles and conference title games?

Never.

Seriously? You realize that they don't need any more hype. What exactly is your point? Or do you just want to see if you can start another endless debate?

This isn't a "debate", Jerry. I'm not here to "debate" you.

This is what we call "fact".

Another AFC Championship game

I'm too lazy too look...is that the third in 3 years? Pretty damn good.

If the Niner's can pull it out today, they'll be 3/3 as well. A Patrios/Niners SB would be great, methinks. Here's hoping!

Correct, 3 in a row.

I agree. It should have happened last year.

0-2 post cheating. I think we all know how they "won" those Super Bowls.

Yeah sure the Patriots cheated in the past no question ! But the success they are having this year with all the injuries and the next man up mentality is impressive. Yes they are cheaters but damn Tom Brady is a great Qb and does more with average players then anyone. I think Tom could make Prairie View A&M a contender.

even tho it's dead, agree on the tuck rule.. worst ever and possibly responsible for so much more evil....

anyways, it's not an accurate analogy until somebody loses an arm... and well... anyways, even I don't hate them that much (to lose an arm that is)

I'd much rather see them run an 18-1 season, or get beat by a knife twister like Peyton next week... much more satisfaction there than one swipe of the light saber could ever wield.

This is the worst team they have had in along time and they are still in the final 4.

Too bad for NE that BB decided to go big on Offense and be lax on defense from 06 - 2012. or IMO they would of had 2 more titles.

How New England is in the final 4 without -- Welker, Gronk , Hernandez, WILFOLK , and Mayo -- all with Brady having a down year - is amazing.

As long as BB is the coach I see NE being a contender ever year -- even w/o Brady -- Hell they won 11 games with Cassell one year. What NE needs is a QB grooming under Brady becasue Brady only has 2 more years in him at an elite level.

All that said I would be shocked if NE looses by less than 14 next week.

Brady is not having a "down year." His stats are way down, sure, but what he has done with a revolving cast of characters this year is incredible.

And the Pats came to realize that when Brady is throwing for 40-50 TDs and 5,000 yards, the Pats don't win the big one.

8 conference championships in 13 seasons with 5 super bowls and 3 super bowl wins

That is off the charts.

Not a single fan in the world wouldn't want that for their team.

Does anyone want to bet me that Belichick's 'genius' suddenly disappears as soon as Brady retires?

Like it did in '09 going 11-5 with Matt Cassel?

Look, it's a lot easier coaching when you have a HOF quarterback. That's a given. But obviously that isn't the only thing that's made Belichick successful.

AND, I'd venture to say that the work of Belichick and his staff this year, during a poor statistical season from Brady I might add, is nothing short of amazing. They have completely reinvented that team three or four times in the midst of a single season! And still made it to the conference championships and possibly beyond!! :shocking:

Are you talking about the year they still had Brady on the sideline helping Cassel and they didn't make the playoffs? Yes, I stick by my statement. His genius will fade around the same time that Brady retires.

Why?

Ummmm Because Denver has aamazing offense and a really solid D. Denver "should " win in a laugher but Manning plays very human when it matters most so there is a chance

I may be the only person who thinks this but.............

If Brady wouldn't have exploded in 2007 - I think the Pats would of been MUCH better off as BB would of stuck with what he knows better than anyone - yes anyone -- DEFENSE. Defense and his schemes are what won them 3 superbowls. That coach you hate so much is EASILY one of the 5 best coaches of all time.

Over the last half of the season, and each team's 1 playoff game so far, the Broncos have scored 32 points a game, the Patriots 34.

Since Tom met Gazelle, he stopped being the hardest working QB in the league and rested on his laurels. She ruined him and turned him into a Hollywood pansy.

if he had stayed single for life, like most of the people that post here, who knows how many Super Bowls they'd have won

39 to the colts

34 to the pats

28 to the Chiefs

28 to the titans

27 to the ravens

24.9 ppg allowed (22nd in the league)

356 yards a game (19th)

19th in yards allowed and they played the raiders twice

You stop it! Giselle says he's very focused!!

NEW YORK -- It may be NFL playoff time in the Tom Brady-Gisele Bundchen household, but the stress doesn't carry over at home.

"He's very focused," the 33-year-old Bundchen said of Brady, quarterback for the New England Patriots, in a recent interview. "We are both very supportive of one another in what we do. ... Of course nobody likes to lose. Those aren't the best days.

"He knows he does his best. He works extremely hard."

To stay calm, the Brazilian model says the couple winds down differently.

"At night if my husband is watching TV and watching football, I have my little book and I put something in my ears so I don't hear it and I put my light (on) and have my book and I'm like, `Ohhh.' He's feeding his soul and that's important to him to watch football. I only want to watch if I'm watching him," she joked.

Gotta love playoff-time reporting...
