You gotta remember the Seinfeld episode where they bet on who can go the longest without being "master of their own domain"?

I think we need to have a geek club dry out wager. All of our lushes see who can go longest without the sauce. Bunny and shots would be good candidates.

We've all been on benders, but that much during a regular work week is crazy. Your body can't process it out fast enough for the next night, you're killing your organs.

When was the last time you had a blood test with a physical?

It will catch up to him, probably in his late 40's to 50's. But I've seen cirrhotics who are under 30.

Not defending my drinking but my 3-4 beers per weeknight is in no way comparable to 8 beers plus 6 shots a day. I drink too much but that's liver failure territory right there. :o

Though there is a lot of individual variation, It is estimated the risk for alcoholic liver disease increases with males who exceed more than 30g (~3 beers) daily for over 10 years.

The risk of dying increases in males who get older.

Again, I am not defending my own excessive drinking but the OP drinks 3x that amount. That's crazy. :o

I am looking forward to my own dry out in a way but I know I can't do it during the holidays.

I drink about like you do. I did the month long dry out when I started working out again a little over a year ago. The first 10 days were the hardest part especially not drinking at work functions. I will also tell you one of the best beers I ever had was on the 32nd day!

Good luck.

Damn shotsup, that's alot of booze.

Have you ever even attempted to ween some at the very least? Maybe cut it down to a six pack of beer and 2 shots a night for a while and see if you can at least cut back some?

Lol, cut back to a sixpack and 2 shots a night... I had 5 beers, a shot, and a coke with a whiskey nipper at a football game over the past weekend and I just feel normal again today (didnt get alot of sleep since then)....

What are the symptoms?

Last night I had four beers and a shot at the bar. I went home and drank eight more beers and six shots of vodka. I have also been doing that for the last twenty years. It is what it is.

Dude, I say this not to give you grief, but because I like you.

You need to get help. You are headed for an early grave. you want to be there to see your grandkids get married and whatnot.

I don't see how you can stay under 400 pounds drinking more than 1000 grams of carbs per night.

Also vodka shots... vodka has no taste, so that serves no purpose but to get drunk. But you already knew that.

I know. I don't want to grow old. I see older people who are truly miserable and just living out their lives. I don't want to be that way. If I make to sixty, I'm fine with that.

I drink light beer. 6'3'' 220 for the last fifteen years. And I barely exercise. :dunno:

We COULD have an online drinking contest between these two one night. We shouldn't, but we could.

I used to drink way too much; at first I stopped entirely, but I slowly built back up. My alcohol intake now is eerily similar to MDC's; during the week my wife and I share a bottle of wine, with me getting about 60% (but I'm 50% heavier than her so the math works out!). Weekends we probably do 1.5 bottles, with me drinking close to a bottle. This happens slowly over 5-ish hours so I never get drunk; more like a slight buzz. Never do shots, and rarely drink beer (maybe once every month or two if I go out with some guys).

I respect people like Frank M who just quit altogether, but I seem to have been able to find a happy medium. I probably should cut back a little but I don't feel any reason to do so I don't plan to do so.

Wish we could have had that drink last time I was in town.

Easy bleeding/bruising, fatigue, jaundice (yellowing of whites of eyes/skin), abdominal swelling, confusion.

But alcohol is toxic to your heart, stomach and nerves as well. Unlikely you haven't damaged something with the amount you drink.

In my fraternity for our annual drink-off (I'm pretty sure they don't do this anymore for liability reasons :( ) we had an honor system where you drank from bottles and kept the caps in your pocket. It avoided that pesky problem of counting beers when you hit the high teens plus. Problem is that you two lushes like to mix in shots. I'd propose you avoid the shots for this competition.
