Mustard, relish and onions.

This is correct.

Bacon and cheese optional if you're going all the way.

87-91..... it's a little vague. papas & beer? rio ritas? the place we often went to had a very steep staircase down to the bar from the street. would fight off the "rose for the lady" and chiclets.

You anti-ketchup people are weird. 90% of the people I know put ketchup on their hotdog. Mustard sucks. The only good mustard is fancy artesianal mustard...and only a queer would bring that to a BBQ.

Ketchup is good. In fact I would like some Mac & cheese with a hotdog cut up in it with ketchup on top right now.

Fuckers.

Nothing better at the turn than a couple hot dogs with ketchup and onions and an ice cold beer

Huge proponent of grilled onions. Even if you don't like regular diced onions, which I find to be overdone. Once you grill them It's a whole different experience.

toppings- mustard, kraut, a little onion (raw or cooked). sometimes i will throw on bbq sauce (not with the other toppings). not a big fan of ketchup and will sub bbq for almost all applications for it.

wiff- you seem to believe a lot of foods are overused. raw diced onions are mostly used on chili, salsas, and on hot dogs. where else are you seeing them?

Bier-

My first thought Is Mexican food regarding the overuse of diced onions. They are cheap, plentiful, And usually applied by the handful as opposed to a spoonful. It's a matter of a little goes a long way.

I have seen Perfectly good chili, hot dogs, salad etc Absolutely ruined by a massive overabundance Raw white onions. Personally, if I'm going to go raw, I'd much rather go with a purple onion. If I'm going to go to the white or yellow route, I'd much rather caramelize it.

very good. it's the distinction between using too much vs widespread, broad overuse. i understand. that can occur. yes, it can be profound and i like it in proportion.

It's kind of a running theme to be anti ketchup. There have been memes and hubbub made about it being a taboo now. I always put it on my dogs as a kid and even into adulthood I'd use both mustard and ketchup. I prefer chili, onions and cheese and rarely use ketchup anymore but it tastes fine.

while store bought ketchup is meh, homemade ones are usually great. i made a couple in my time and have been to many restaurants that do their own. some of my favorites that i put our were a guava/shallot, and strawberry chipotle.

I still put ketchup on a hotdog sometimes. Go-to at the little Costco food court is a polish dog with ketchup, mustard and raw onion.

Don't care for relish or sauerkraut.

No ketchup if it's better than a "hot dog", I.e. sausage or brat.

So sue me :dunno:

You ever do a tomato jam? It's a lot less sweet I'm far more flavorfull Then Ketchup.

Spicy mustard

Anyone ever heard of Johnnys sauce? It's like a combo of chili and gravy with a kick that we have at a couple local hot dog joints around here

In other parts it can be called hot dog sauce, or chili sauce. Pretty great when I'm drunk.

So, always...

Do they actually taste good? I'm intrigued by the low carbs; your link says only 2g (including 1g fiber) whereas a basic Nathan's has 24g:

Although... your link says a serving is 42g, whereas a basic Nathan's is 100g. That's about 2.5X bigger. Something seems wrong. :dunno:

I'm kinda partial to the Chicago dog, which I first had in... Little Rock for some reason. It's odd because I am generally not a fan of raw onions and I was meh on mustard. But we were in a hot dog place and I figured I'd try it. Quite tasty. I don't make hot dogs often at home but when I do, I'll gather up as many of the items as we have.

The only thing I will put ketchup on is a burger, and that is usually when the burger is getting too big for a slice of tomato. Its a lame condiment. For children really. Salt and pepper for fries. Ketchup on eggs is disgusting, grow up. :P

Early faux dogs were terrible, but these are decent. I make vegetarian beanie-weenies with them, and sometime eat them with ketchup, though mustard, relish and onions are also good

I like mustard better than ketchup. I will often use mustard by itself.

I never use ketchup by itself. Must be accompanied by mustard. Mix must be at least 60-40 mustard.

I also like Cholula sauce better than Franks, Louisiana hot sauce or Tabasco.

Ketchup is great with fries. But fact is it's pretty much just sugar. So, yeah, if you're eating something gourmet then don't ruin it by dipping or dousing it in sugar

If you're eating a hot dog, chances are you aren't going to be concerned about all the sugar that's in ketchup.
