I know, love and respect NewbieJr. We're internet friends and allies. I dearly miss him. Everybody in the Geek Club knows Newbie is a heavy name in Geek Club lore and what he brings. Newbie has an enormous Geek Club reputation, whereas Murf doesn't have a footprint here. Maybe that's enough. But everybody that spends time on the Mainge Board knows how much Murf is liquid death in this one particular category.

 

Newbie's greatness is scattered everywhere and I don't even think Sports is his best category. IMO, when it comes to Sports, Murf runs circles around Newbie -there's no shame in that- because when it comes to sports, Murf runs circles around me and he runs circles around you and he runs circles around every one of you reading this post too and deep down, we all know it.

 

And I like to think I'm pretty good at this stuff.

 

It's just not humanly possible to be more sports obsessed than this guy. If you live and breathe football, you can only tie him. There are other Mainge board guys that are in his area code. Newbie has a life outside sports and find other things interesting.

I don't want to be lumped in there with this critique... Rusty is truly a great pick. My favorite thread is still one of his : the pizza delivery fingerprint story. And unlike vudu, Rusty made me laugh consistently.

Why is one in his book the #3 overall pick and the other an eighth rounder? We both took who we liked best and rolled teh dice that voters don't know who it is we're talking about. Seems inconsistent.

 

For how much I like Newbie, Murf mops the floor with him at sports. Newbie's sports knowledge doesn't awe me, I think it's more or less the same as mine. Who's more likely to know all the deep sleeper info? Who'd any of you rather take FF advice from? In case of an emergency, who'd you rather ask to draft your team?

Volty, I'm not even trying to argue with you. It was an opinion. My only point was that a murph74 could have been picked in the 6th, 7th or 8th round of this draft. That's it.

 

It's like fantasy football. If you think you have some sleeper WR with a 12th round ADP, you don't draft him 5th round. I don't care how high you are on him. Because the overwhelming odds are you can still reach and draft him in the 9th round.

to me he would have been better in the a-hole category. always wanted to be a peacock with his feathers out... selfies, duck faces, very much look at me (at least in the times that I knew him. or maybe for those of you that knew him better and/or spent time in political threads he could have been a better fit for politics or 'nice guy' if he truely was... or perhaps and poor mans Edjr at flex.

It's a Sports category, not just Fantasy Football. Sports Talk. Barry Bonds, Tiger Woods, Lebron. Cowboys hate. Tom Brady hate. Eagles threads. Newbie was in the middle of all that.

I completely agree, just because he talked about sports does t make him a specialist. I associate him more with self tanner, selfies and lying that that one pic where his skin is almost black isn't him when it clearly is. I'd call him more politics than sports even.
