I wonder if organs are being donated from all these murder victims?

Maybe Lightfoot can turn all the murders into a profit by selling the organs.

I did some research and apparently the answer is no. In order for organs to be harvested the heart has to still be beating (which means the person is still alive) and shooting victims are likely to be dead or dead by the time permission can be given by immediate family.

crazy stat... ~50% of gun homicides are committed in 1% of U.S. Counties.    Counties....

Link?

edit:  meh that’s probably true.  But it’s because there are over 3,000 counties in the US.  So 1% would be 30 which probably accounts for over 25% of the US’s population.

Chicago is proof the left doesn’t give a rats ass about gun violence. Everyone knows who’s doing it in Chicago, and everyone knows who the victims are. And yet they don’t even acknowledge it, for political purposes. They would rather sick the ATF and FBI on legal gun owners than the ones doing all the carnage with illegal guns. There are no laws that need to be changed to get a handle on this.

And 90% of the black/Hispanic population?

I'll try to run down where I saw it.  I couldn't find it quickly in my search history.  I believe the stat for 2022 was 47% of gun crimes occurred in 1% of counties.

Murders up in urban areas, not gun-friendly counties | Washington Examiner

from 2020..

“The worst 1% of counties (the worst 31 counties) have 21% of the population and 42% of the murders. The worst 2% of counties (62 counties) contain 31% of the population and 56% of the murders. The worst 5% of counties contain 47% of the population and account for 73% of murders. But even within those counties, the murders are very heavily concentrated in small areas,” he wrote of the 2020 numbers.

Yeah this isn’t shocking, but 1% sounds scarier than 21%.

Too bad digby isn’t here to tell us how 6 cities in the US (and not even the ones with the highest murders) account for most of the crime in the WORLD

Actually however, per your link the numbers appear to be down this last year vs the year before. That’s good at least. Does it indicate that something better is happening?

It’s not good at all.

Take guns away from law-abiding citizens, that should help a lot.

I didn't want to say it because I thought it was a bit too obvious, but now that you mention it, the liberal audience around here I guess does need a swift dose of common sense injected every now and then in it's simplest form because they are so twisted up in their liberal thinking.

No. You are picking a short period of time that of course numbers fluctuate, but the overall it will go up again and either way it's too focking high.

Not that you care.

Oh I know what’s  happening in Los Angeles. But I don’t know if there are any Gascon types in Chicago.

I also don’t know that there is a significant connection between the sort of justice reform that guys like Gascon are after and increased violence in American cities. Obviously that is the conservative assumption. But I don’t know if it’s true. (To be fair I don’t know that it’s not true either.)

Yep, and those numbers will go up and down but stay in the same range forever until the left is voted out of that city and someone who gives a shlt about crime is voted in and actually is hard on crime.

Lightfoot took police off the streets to guard her block where she lives and to guard a movie making crew because she didn't want to lose that good ole Chicago spirit. Fock the citizens living in those crime infested areas.
