Preseason Week 2 Discussion

Maybe Prescott is just that much better he can actually make things happen.

No question this line is good, possibly the best in football. But we went 0-14 with this same line with those other 2 qbs. I think Prescott is definitely benefiting from landing in a garden spot - but he is surprising everyone with his poise and early skill.

His attributes so far bode well for dez and the offense as a whole. They found their de facto heir to romo so far.

Geez, Dak is better than Romo! Giraldi is right, it's gonna get weird fast if Romo doesn't come out winning.

@the newb, think again. Fans are ruthless to ageing injury prone qbs when a hot dynamic rookie shows well in preseason. If they come out losing you better believe they will turn on Romo in a second.

That's not happening. Romo will have to be wheeled off - which given his glass shoulder is always a possibility.

The team won't turn on him but you better believe the fans will. Perennial 8-8 Qbs don't get the royal treatment when a rookie plays this well behind him.

The real fans know this team has gone 8-8 more often than not bcoz of the pathetic defensive units and lack of attention to the defense in the draft.

Garoppolo slinging some darts out there in 2 minute drill.

Caveat is he had all day to throw. He stood tall in the pocket and really drover it though. I wonder how he'll handle pressure.

This.

Romo played great in 14 and was hurt last yr obviously. As long as he's healthy he'll play well again this yr.

If he has a poor game or 2 this yr people will be calling for Dak maybe. Media looking for clicks and idiots that dont know what they're talking about imo

Romo and the Nfc East may have a tougher test passing with the two Skins games. Breeland and the addition of Norman and move of Hall to free safety makes this the best secondary we've had in a long time. If we had a strong safety with real talent it would be scary.

For all Zeke drafters, Morris is a MUST-handcuff. For those who don't draft Zeke, Morris is a great late-round flier. Could be a championship pick.

He looks like Thurman Thomas running behind that o-line.

The Skins are really strong in the passing game, but they might should of held on to Morris. Especially with Jones banged up.... Also curious to see just how good Norman is w/out the Panther pass Russ up front.

At the end of last year everyone was talking about how average Morris was. Now all of a sudden after a few big games behind the best oline in football he would have anchored the run game again? He's just an ok running back. Nothing they couldn't replace, and probably for cheaper.

I agree whom is worth taking off that team. OBJ even scares me should've gone by the time I pick though.

He's 27 and fresh. We got him for 2 years and $3.5m - we can cut him next year for a mere $500k hit... I'm happy as hell to have him, glad they didn't want him.

Noted Giants hater... But I think they will be just fine. Outside of Minny, Baltimore, Pitt and maybe Cinci - their defensive schedule isn't very daunting... The Giants will put up numbers, least offensively.

Anyone else notice that when players are going down on the turf, it's like a little black cloud comes up? I noticed they were trying to get what looked like black pellets off the HOF field, too. Are they using that awful ground up rubber stuff on fields that has been linked to causing cancer in soccer goalies who have had extended exposure to the stuff?

I've noticed this as well. Here's a link to an interesting article about that..

Ugh. Me too. Dam. I was hoping to get him early second round. That's over. I will take him in the first. Big Freeman believer.

Would you take him mid-first in PPR?

Would you take him mid-first in PPR?

Yes. His ceiling is the number 1 fantasy player depending on scoring system. And their line is better this year with Mack.

Honestly, if someone in my league took him 1.01 I wouldn't say a word.

Staying away from all NYG RBs.

Tyrod looks pretty good.

This is pre-season. Not only are 2nd and 3rd stringers playing, but none of the defenses are running any schemes at all.

The only issue of worth right now is injuries.

I have been playing FF since 1999. Perhaps, you have too.....or longer. Closely watching pre-season games has landed me late-round jewels many times.

To me, it is even more beneficial today. With the advent of the interwebnet, all owners have access to the same drivel. However, most are too lazy or cocky to actually plow through pre-season games in search of that diamond. With the advent of DVR, this task has become less time-consuming and cumbersome....and it allows owners that one degree of separation that is otherwise difficult to achieve.

True.. On the flip side, if you're given an opportunity, and still suck against back ups and non-scheming teams - alarms bells get fired off.

I agree for the most part. I occasionally see something that tells me something conventional wisdom does not.

Example: Last year I was watching Bucs and Browns and I think it was a week 3 preseason game. The conventional wisdom was that RB Doug Martin is banged up and barely servicable as a RB3. I watched him cut and show explosiveness. It hit me, this kid is healthy and going to be productive this year. I scooped him up as my RB3. In a keeper league so he'll be on my team again this year.

I haven't witnessed anything like that this year........yet.

Perfect example of what I am saying in my "Watch preseason for positives" PSA thread. Martin was my RB2 last year and people snickered at me taking him in rnd5.

I don't think the vanilla defense thing is true anymore. I'm surprised at how many blitzes some teams are throwing out there.

It's not like they're sitting back in their base zone and saying fock it.

Yeah, I'll give you that. What's more, I remember watching the Cowboys pre-season finale about six years ago. I was in a poker game with many of the players in my fantasy league, and the Boys were playing Houston. I'd remembered Arian Foster from the year before, a talented undrafted RB who was yanked by The Kubiak for fumbling twice in the last game of the Texan's 2009 season.

So Foster is absolutely tearing Dallas a new one, and guys at the table are gushing over him. To which I replied, "are you serious, it's preseason lol..."

Then I drafted him the next day in our auction league for like $14. But truthfully, and I know you'd agree here, that's the exception not the norm. I watch the games surely, but don't put much stock in them. In fact, I predict Prescott's experience will be FAR different if he gets into a regular season game. Which he will with Romes being Romes.

The success story from last year that stands out concerned Jeremy Maclin. While packing his bags for KC meant he'd be reunited with Andy Reid, many were scratching their heads as to why he'd commit to such a career-killing move, hitching his wagon to Alex "He never throws WR TDs" Smith. Then in one of the middle preseason games, Maclin starts getting peppered with targets and it became clear that Reid was going to go out of his way to scheme him the ball. The reaction on these boards was frantic, yours particularly :) , as folks were wishing the Chiefs had %^&* $#%^&* kept Maclin under wraps so as not to spoil his ADP before draft time. I then targeted him in mine and profited.

I targeted Maclin as a buy low in dynasty. Well I actually gave up a late 1st round rookie pick for him last year. At the time I got a ton of flack, including multiple people saying they wouldn't draft Maclin with the last pick in the draft. That was obviously way overboard, but people were not buying in at all right off the bat, even to the point to where I doubted myself a bit for making the move.

In non ppr though he was a headache to start. Between Cooks slower start and Maclins inconsistency to start the season, it pretty much killed my season right off the bat.
