Sho Nuff 720 Posted December 17, 2016 Chevy/GM in my experience. And their new commercials are annoying. Just never seemed to be comfortable rides when I have been in them. Not as sure on their trucks...mostly the cars (Malibu, Impala and a few others).

Djgb13 2,339 Posted December 17, 2016 Chevy by far, but they still have a couple vehicles worth buying like the Tahoe or silverado. I'm going car shopping this weekend. Noticed that camaros and corvettes that were used were pretty cheap. Even the convertible ones. Guy I work with bought a custom corvette that was $80K. He went to see about trading it in to get something a little newer. Car is only 2 years old and they said it's only worth $30K. He couldn't believe in 2 years his corvette lost $50K in value

listen2me 23 1,873 Posted December 17, 2016 I'm looking into getting a truck in the Spring. I have no idea what ditectioj to go. The reviews and opinions are all over the place. Most times it is like politics....if you are a ford guy you bash chevy if you are a chevy guy you bash ford. I have had a lot of luck in used cars pretty much my whole driving career. 2 of my cars I bought off people I knew or family knew. Great deals and knew what I was getting. Now I'm ready to buy new and take care of it planning on driving it for 7-10 years.

Djgb13 2,339 Posted December 17, 2016 I'm looking at getting another truck. Loved having a truck and could do so much with one. Only thing was my Tundra didn't have 4 wheel drive so mudding and off-roading was out. My next truck is gonna have 4 wheel drive. I've own two brands of cars/truck in my life. First was a Honda and the last two were Toyotas. Never had a problem with any of them. Tundra was a great truck and held its value really dam well. Only had a year left on it and was looking forward to not having a truck payment. Had planned on keeping that truck til the wheels fell off and just buying another case, a fun car, later on after PA school to cruise around and travel to and from work in. So now I'm looking to find another truck but I don't want one identical to my old tundra

That size seems about right as my wife will have to drive it some and she does not want to drive any of the bigger trucks. My dad just bought a Tacoma not too long ago. Couple months in fact. He loves it. 4 door, off road edition, back up cam, gps, good gas mileage, etc. Got a good deal on it. I've driven it a couple times and it's really nice. Not quite as big as a tundra but still big enough. He needed a new truck that had gps in it though. He's getting pretty old at 74 and sometimes he will be driving going somewhere and not know where he's going but think he does. Happens occasionally when he drives to my sisters house to cook for them which is an hour away. That's why the GPS helps out a lot cause he can just hit the home button on there to get him back to his house if he gets confused
Fireballer 2,642 Posted December 17, 2016 Chevy by far, but they still have a couple vehicles worth buying like the Tahoe or silverado. Suburbans, Tahoes, and Siverados were the sh!t back in early to mid 2000s. My hunting teuck is a 2002 Suburban with 275k on the odometer. We drove the hell out of till it got put in my reserve fleet. I change tranny, transfer case, oil, and diff fluids and it still runs like a top. Ive had to put on a new water pump and a power steering pump. The fuel mileage still rivals my 2014 4runner. I love that truck
listen2me 23 1,873 Posted December 17, 2016 If Im getting a truck I want a full sized truck. I dont qant a small bed.. to me that is useless and you might as well not get a truck. Like the sport model trucks, dont get those what so ever. A kid I grew up with had a beautiful deep red f 150. So it was nice lookin But he hauls nothing. We asked him to give us a ride with our canoe and he basically wouldnt for fear of a scratch. If you asked him for help moving furniture....nah. Only really ghey status seekers drive trucks and dont use them as trucks. If you want to be a prissy little girl with a shiney vehicle then get a car. I always laugh when I see these big bad trucks on the road, shiney as hell all detailed. I really cant stand driving vehicles for status. More than anything trucks that you dont utilize. Guys who cant even use a hammer will buy these big ol trucks and not use them.

listen2me 23 1,873 Posted December 17, 2016 When you buy a new truck im not saying dont take care of it or keep it nice. But if you are going to be so afraid to use it then there is no use in getting one. Lile a new phone. Sure im going to be careful with it at first but after the first time I drop it then game on. I like being able to toss my phone around a bit so I avoid upgrading my phone. I will run my phone into the ground as long as it is functional. Dings in trucks will happen if you use it. Can still keep it cleaned and looking decent with using is properly. The kid I am talking about had this Truck for at least 2 or 3 years and it looked like it did when he got it and he was never the type to need to haul anything or use it for any real purpose. He used it like a sports car yet it was a full sized f150.
Djgb13 2,339 Posted December 17, 2016 I've never driven a ford, GMC, or dodge. Dad had a chevy back in the day. It was a good truck. I just ALWAYS hear bad things about fords. People always say ford stands for Found On Road Dead. Hell my MIL is going to be trading her brand new ford in next year cause it's been giving her so many problems that the ford dealership says isn't covered by the warranty and she hasn't even had it a year. So I'm not wanting to deal with that headache

trumpurethra 42 Posted December 17, 2016 Everything runs for 100k+ miles nowadays. The superior quality of Honda and Toyota is no longer actual, it is just perceived and reputation at this point. Ford, Chevy, and Dodge have all wised up and now build quality vehicles. In fact, I would say that as the domestics have gotten better in quality, Toyota and Honda have slid a little bit. So yeah, buy a damned American car if you choose to live here.

listen2me 23 1,873 Posted December 17, 2016 Tundras are some of the best trucks around HTH I have no opinion. But to reviews it is not. US News rated the 2017 as 6th best full sized pickup out of the 6th they ranked. Gave it a 7.3 rating. 5th was the Silverado which they gave a 8.6. The top being the f150 at 8.9. So basically rating the top 5 all pretty close and the Tundra dead last by a big margin. Also looking on the interwebs the Tundra gets the worst MPG by far. 13/18 vs the norm of 18/24... So you may be alone on this.

Not off hand but I know the older years like 2012-2014 they were. Plus while pricing trucks online I've noticed the tundras being more expensive than the chevys, fords, and GMC trucks even with the tundra having more miles on it. I'm not gonna research into it cause it's whatever

listen2me 23 1,873 Posted December 17, 2016 Who buys a Toyota truck? A lot of people, they make great trucks. Again not saying you arent happy with a Toyota truck you may have or had. But what years? Any new ranking have the Tundra last and the Tacoma maybe not last but never in the top 2 of smaller pickups. Both classes seem more expensive than Ford Chevy Ram GMC. Both classes seem tohave the worst MPG of its class. So what are we basing this off? Im just looking at reviews which seem consistant. I dont test drive trucks each year or put them through test and I'm sure no one else here does.
Djgb13 2,339 Posted December 17, 2016 Hell the Toyota Tundra I bought was made right here in America. It was made in the city I bought it. San Antonio, Tx. Toyota makes a great truck. vuduchile 1,945 Posted December 17, 2016 Best is relative. I once had a Honda truck that was very useful and dependable, but uncomfortable as hell for anyone over 6'0" tall. It's not a pickup, but my '95 Ford Explorer has 186K and is still going strong. Every one of them has put out some lemons over the years. Barring a major design flaw or reliability issue, just get the one that has the features you want. In your case, the black one that turns into plane or a boat with the flick of a switch should meet your needs.

You dont test drive trucks for a living or gather useful data from a large sample size. You are going off vague memory of what you feel you hear most breaks down. There are probably many more f150s on thr road than Toyota Tundras.
