He didn't give a fock that Hillary was two weeks away from her election when he made it public that he was reopening the investigation into her emails. And he didn't give a fock that it was a republican President that he was investigating for collusion/treason with the Russians. Bottom line is, Trump needs someone in that position that he hand picks. Someone that will keep the Russian investigation in his favor. This is playing out all well and good for Trump and his cronies. He has the ability to put people in positions to make him bulletproof and he's taking advantage. But, just like everything else in politics, this stuff always comes back to bite you in the ass years later. This will be the new norm. He gave a huge win to the dems... there is the operations aspect, and the political aspect. On the operations, congress will be HIGHLY skeptical of him nominating a lackey, and will have huge pressure and leverage to appoint a special committee or special prosecutor because the optics are so awful. While your general statement may be true in some cases, it certainly doesn't apply here. There is no way anyone in their right mind would think that allowing a man who is under investigation to fire the man heading the department doing that investigation, is a good thing for our country. If someone presented this scenario to any one of us as a hypothetical, without specifying a political party, every single one of us would have agreed that's shady. On a more serious note, several months ago I mentioned that Comey should be fired and I thought someone mentioned that it would require Senate approval of 60+. As has been said repeatedly but apparently needs to be said more, look at the timing. Yeah if he have been fired on day one of the Trump presidency it would have been a smart move. But now? I questioned his timing of the Hillary announcement (that resulted in nothing btw)...the timing of it is at best just awful optics. That's the best case scenario. The man showed he had no loyalty to either party but to investigating. That's what he should do. Fire him Jan 29th...whatever. But it's painfully obvious to those not up Trumps ass that this firing happened because of what has gone in with the Russian investigation. I'm not sure Donald understands that investigations won't necessarily stop. He can appoint someone who will try and stonewall them though. The whining about Obama and leaks is just more deflection. Grand Jury Subpoenas went out yesterday around Flynn. You all want it all to go away...it's not.
