dain11279 928 Posted June 29, 2017 Die Hard and T2 should pretty much be cemented in everyone's list. The Dark Knight is a good one but is that an action movie or a superhero movie or are they the same?
wiffleball 4,649 Posted June 29, 2017 To those who voted for Jaws , I would respectfully submit deep blue sea instead. Much more action. Less of a psychological Thriller and more of an action film. Plus, 100% less annoying little Jewy guy.

giraldi02 470 Posted June 29, 2017 Does The Matrix count? The lobby scene alone should at least be considered one of the baddest a$$ gun scenes in the last 20 years.

wiffleball 4,649 Posted June 29, 2017 That secondary explosion was a real screw up. Ledger's reaction? Was a one time improvement that was so good and seamless, it made the cut.

Cruzer 1,992 Posted June 29, 2017 The Fast and the Furious saga has grossed over $5 freaking Billion worldwide. I'd have to put the original one on the Mountain.
MDC 5,902 Posted June 29, 2017 My Mount Rushmore: Die Hard Commando Raiders of the Lost Ark Aliens Honorable mention to T2, Robocop and Road House. If we're opening this up to martial arts movies, Enter the Dragon, Fist of Legend, Ip Man, The Raid: Redemption and Ong Bak 2 top my list.
wiffleball 4,649 Posted June 29, 2017 ...that WAS good, but Scream pulled that stunt first. Plus, much bigger fan of Rachel? In wet white bikini bottom.
wiffleball 4,649 Posted June 29, 2017 All right, then I definitely have to put in one of my all-time favorites. Not only did it kick ass, but it is seriously and always underrated and underappreciated. THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS
MDC 5,902 Posted June 29, 2017 Since were on the subject, if you his like action movies do yourself a favor and watch THE RAID: REDEMPTION. It's subtitled but don't worry, there's not much story. This movie is awesome.

Reality 2,710 Posted June 29, 2017 A lot of good ones listed so I won't repeat those. Where does Man on Fire land in the genre talks? If that movie is on I'm watching it. I really enjoy the John Wick's as well.

Electric Mayhem 35 Posted June 29, 2017 You really have to lock down what can be included as 'Action'. Depending on classifications, I would also throw in for consideration: The Professional Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid The 5th Element Independence Day

I've never seen it; need to put that near the front of the "wife is out somewhere" movie queue.

Electric Mayhem 35 Posted June 29, 2017 I assumed westerns were off the table. I guess - but 'Action-y' westerns? I would also put up there Silverado. One of my favourite movies across all classifications.
cbfalcon 824 Posted June 29, 2017 Dude - She was 12 when she shot that. And a young 12 at that. Damn man.... uck, I feel sick. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B7K46jdIMAAJcwk.jpg I wasn't lusting after Jenny Matrix...But when you watch Commando, you are reminded that an all time great ass grab in film history is only 11 years after this. It's a reference point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFOOOashME4

cbfalcon 824 Posted June 29, 2017 I concede I shouldn't have listed Rock IV. It's not an "Action" movie. But neither are movies like Star Wars (SciFi), Raiders (Adventure), Private Ryan (War), The Dark Knight (Comic), etc...........Action movies are defined by a a hero beating the helll out of and/or killing way more guys than he should be able to kill by his/herself, and doing so in an extremely loud manner (shootouts, explosions, karate kicks, etc.....as opposed to poisoning them or something unspectacular). As thread creator, Bunny needs to reign this thing in and set some boundaries. Otherwise we risk getting so far off track that we never successfully and definitively answer the question at hand...that being "What 4 films belong on the ACTION movie Mt. Rushmore?" TD Ryan2 314 Posted June 29, 2017 action movie (to me) refers to Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Van Damme, Segal... they are the 4 "Action Movie" stars that would be on the Mt. I kinda feel like you just have to pick one best movie from each of them and then you have Action Movie Rushmore a bit flawed? sure... Die Hard, Martrix and probably some Jackie Chan deserves mention.
