TimmySmith 2,782 Posted July 11, 2017 I always give a few bucks. 10%ish. And I always tip delivery at least $5, even for an $8 pizza. $10 for real food..

patweisers44 845 Posted July 11, 2017 I'm anti tip system, and I agree with you. That said, since we have a tip system, why should the waitress get tipped for bringing the meal to your table, but not get tipped for putting it in to go boxes, bagging it up, putting sauces and condiments into to go ramikins. Putting the to go silverware in, and THEN bringing it to you? It's more work for her, and she doesn't really give a Fock where you choose to eat it, other than the fact that you're not taking up one of the tables that pays her bills. In most cases, to-go is at least as much work for the server than dine-in. I do tip for carryout and the amount varies on my perception of what I ordered and how much work I think is involved in getting it to me. Generally speaking its only one of two places that I carryout from and I would consider myself a regular at both places. If a few bucks gets me recognized, and a little more care taken with my order, its well worth it.

I tip people who do a good job and I know don't make a good hourly wage and rely on those tips. Tipping a mailman for example is absolutely absurd.
patweisers44 845 Posted July 11, 2017 I haven't done this in years, but in the past when I have had a ridiculous amount of garbage on a given week (moving, basement flooded, etc), I have left a disposable Styrofoam cooler with 12 Budweisers (the guys at the time were Mexicans, just sayin) on ice, one step away from it with a note attached. Bier Meister 1,710 Posted July 11, 2017 In most cases, to-go is at least as much work for the server than dine-in. i disagree. dine in requires more attention: take order, serve food (sometimes coursed), drink orders, serve/refill drinks, bus table, ring up order. take out or delivery, you just pack it up and watch it go

I was thinking more along the lines of a coney island type breakfast place or BW3 where everything is brought at one time and bused by someone else. At BDubs I generally sit at the bar and have a beer while waiting so I tip for sure there.
shotsup 832 Posted July 11, 2017 I tip people who do a good job and I know don't make a good hourly wage and rely on those tips. Tipping a mailman for example is absolutely absurd . 1X a year. Christmas. Mailman $25 UPS guy $25 Sanation guys three guys. $25 each. Never tip the paper delivery guy.
Bier Meister 1,710 Posted July 11, 2017 i am thinking about the places i grab take out from: a local thai place pizza, but not really a sit down place mexican chinese even though they have service teams set up for efficiency, it still requires more effort than just bagging to go orders. the cooks typically box the food and give it to the servers. Alias Detective 1,400 Posted July 11, 2017 Coronas are for girls and gheys Which one are you ? That's your best? Paying $15 for a focking beer that a case costs $30-45. Someone has to pay the outlandish rent for their high rise box. I'll take my $500,000 home in the woods on 30 private acres and enjoy a $3 beer. {when I drank}

heavy-set 39 Posted July 11, 2017 I throw a few bucks as a tip, maybe a 5 spot. only because its so cheap compared to a fine dining experience, that 2 entrees from an Indian or Thai place plus a tip is like $30. and this is for sit down restaurants with a wait staff
Bert 1,128 Posted July 11, 2017 Fast food no. Regular restaurant yes. ETA: If it is an order at the counter place I tip a buck or two.

Way to keep your story straight bud. $14 for 2 in 2000. Check the post bud. Are you suggesting their isn't inflation on beer prices in NYC? I assumed $15 would be about right for a beer nowadays. listen2me 23 1,873 Posted July 11, 2017 No. Why? Do y'all tip fast food, like McDonalds? Yea, I dont get what you are tipping? It is like tipping the chef when you go out to eat a nice meal. It isnt up to me to make up for your lack of wage. If you are in food business and want tips, wuit making pizzas and wait tables at a real place.

Alias Detective 1,400 Posted July 11, 2017 shots and AD- how much are you paying for a corona? is this at a ball game or just from a store? $3.00 -4.00 at a bar or restaurant By the case probably $40-50. Alias Detective 1,400 Posted July 11, 2017 I lived in Norwalk CT for a couple years. I always bought the first round of drinks. The price for 4-5 drinks was always $30 plus a freaking $5 tip or you never got another drink. If you were with cheap focks who never bought a round it for real pricey quick. Now that I'm older, I realize how much a rip off waiting in line to drink an expensive ass, poorly made drink was.
shotsup 832 Posted July 11, 2017 NYC depends where you are and brand $8 - $10. Local place on LI $6 - $8 Forget about ballparks- expensive no matter where you go(Major leagues)

I get what you're saying, but I never tip in those situations. I also make it a point to write a 0 or a slash mark through the tip line and rewrite the total just so there's no misunderstanding.
