Did three shots of pure abystnh at an old pirate bar in the Quarter. Bought a round and the chicks chickened out. Slammed them back to back.

 

Was sitting on a balcony facing the back of the Cathedral smoking a cig. I saw some shadows from the past that scared the fawk out of me. Took me two weeks to get right.

Only decent whiskey we've got is Glenlivet 12, so that's it I suppose. Wouldn't be a shot though; we've got some cheap-ass Evan Williams bourbon if the plan is to do a shot.

 

Also I asked for some Oban 14 for Christmas which I expect to get, but it ain't Christmas yet unfortunately. A Highland single malt, one of the smoothest around IMO, if you are into such things.

5:40 here, and I just found out that when my wife bought the Oban as a gift, she also bought the Bulleit bourbon I pointed out at Total Wine and stuck it in our liquor cabinet. So tonight's (first) drink to Ron is a Sidecar. Recipe I just used:

 

2 oz bourbon (or cognac I've done in the past).

1 oz Cointreau

1/2 oz lemon juice

1 tsp sugar (I used a drop of liquid splenda)

 

I shook and served up in a martini glass, but you can do rocks in a highball class.

Had my favorite beer in the world (Grimm Brothers - Griffin) in honor of Rholio Friday night. They only put it out in June each year but I have a friend at the brewery who wax sealed a case of bottles for me. I was down to 8 but I broke out 4 of them for the occasion.
